The rest of the evening will be about eating said pizza, drinking wine and watching the Project Runway finale. And PS: is Bloglines down for anyone else? Feeds are not refreshing for me.

  • IMG_0549 I had cookies for lunch and letterpress for breakfast. Two new prints in the shop and ALL OLD PRINTS are marked down aka SALE! aka let's clear it all out and start anew.

Tuesday is a good day for running.

IMG_0502 My favorite : Junk is Art. Top photo is a paper plate display in Anthropologie Reston. Bottom photo is a newspaper covered window display in J.Crew. Who comes up with this stuff? And can I meet them for a chat?

I spent yesterday opening the new Paper Source Reston. Something about starting fresh + new + perfect is quite magical.

I am going to join Ali in documenting a week in the life. I am a few days late to the party – but this will be a good transition week to make note of. So today, Thursday, October 2, 2008, in sum:

    morning

    • Paul came in to say goodbye
    • went back to sleep
    • woke up with a start
    • showered
    • cereal + coffee + emails + bloglines
    • washed and put away dishes
    • dried hair
    • got dressed after only one clothes try on – very rare for me
    • packed lunch
    • mailed gas + electric bills
    • drove to the metro
    • rode into DC and read articles about the VP debate and did 25% of the crossword
    • walked to work – froze in my dress and sweater

    @ work

    • busy day
    • prepped to transition out of my workshop coordinator position – lots of cleaning, reorganizing and phone calls

    • went to American Apparel and bought two tees
    • took monster phone order + danced a little jig 🙂
    • did some workshop training
    • troubleshooted a little bit
    • turned in my store keys – almost felt like crying
    • bought some paper goods
    • walked to the metro
    • called Paul + Dad – chatted about work + the economy
    • waited a long time for the metro home
    • completed the suduko

Just found a great link from three potato four for a Japanese website that turns your photos into old photos. I am a big fan of the results. I would love some glasses that make things look black and white and worn just perfect. in real life.

Sorry for the lame blogging lately – I will be back in action after the busy weekend.

  • + I just got so nervous that I wasn't registered to vote I almost could not breathe. This site is great if you are wondering the same thing. Just click your state and you can confirm you are signed up and where your polling place is. Whew.

+ I am working through this week the best that I can. I know I have been unclear about my future job plans. The bottom line is that I will be dropping from 40 hours/week to 20 hours/week in order to have more free time. This change starts Monday.

+ My books from the last post were all fabulous. Water for Elephants was sad. Very sad. Excellent read though. A Year of Mornings was just as lovely + magical as I knew it would be. I hope they make one for their evenings. And I really wonder what theme they will come up with for next year.

    + and that is that.

    Shwoop.

Tomorrow I am flying to Appleton, Wisconsin for my cousin's wedding. And the parents are going to be there. Which is good because I think every three point five months it is important to talk in person with the folks that gave you life. Just to remind them that, you know, life is good.

And then I am back home for a week of work followed by a weekend of (soft) opening a new store.

So it is nonstop until Monday, October 6 when crafting becomes my real job.

(The books above are what I would like to call hazard number one of reading blogs. Impulse buys. My very most favorite. I will tell you how they were when I get home.)

    Have an excellent weekend.

  • Oh geez.

Shame on me for mentioning the job on the blog. It was very poor timing. Because today I realized that I love where I work. I do. I just need to change it up a little bit.

The background: I decided in the middle of August to search for something new. Something closer to home. Something a little less intense. But realized that I have very little passion/attention span for things other than paper. I have gotten quite used to my action packed and double sided taped up days.

The point: I really do not want another job.

The verdict: I am just going to be stepping out of my current managerial role and into something a little more part time. A little more crafty. A little more just exactly what I need.

And my life makes sense again.
