    Stagedeli

While we were in New York over Christmas we went to Stage Deli. Like a tourist, I got out my film camera and took some photos. Today, I got them developed at Target and the processing was completely off. All of my photos turned out muted and blah. These ones, however, seemed to improve with the unwanted photoshop-esque treatement.

Inauguration themed ads (this one is for Pepsi) are starting to pop up all over the district and nearby states. I am so excited for the big event a week from today.

(and P.S. thank you, thank you for the pro-braces and positive comments. I do know I will be alright, but the support is much appreciated.)

  • I went and got x-rays taken this morning and lucked out by finding a fantastic dentist out here on the East Coast. Hooray! Don't get me wrong, I cried like a nutcase in the waiting room before I even sat down in the chair – but I left fairly dry-eyed.

But the good news is that I do have good bone and good teeth in my mouth. And the bad news is that the teeth are in fact moving. While the ostrich in me wants to stick my head in the sand, I believe the fantastic dentist and agree that at my age it is much better to treat and beat this mess.

So now the looming question is braces or retainer. I would go Invisaline but DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT COSTS? SERIOUSLY? I could buy a new head and a nice flat screen for that price. I will see an orthodontist soon and find out what the new plan will be.

Overall : good day. No more fake teeth. Knock on porcelain.

A while back I attached two covers with two huge bookrings and decided to collect lovely things. For awhile now, this chunky little book has just been sitting around and now I am motivated to keep adding to it.

Here is a peek at some of the insides:

  • I have a very good feeling that I will be back in the creative spirit on Sunday. Until then, here are some fun/inspiring links I have found the past couple days.

Happy Friday – Make it Good.

Yesterday turned out okay. Three cheers for not too much pain and lots and lots of distracting work. I am enjoying my new job. It is surprisingly fun and interesting to sit at a desk.

Thank you for your kind words. I realize that this whole teeth thing is really just Annoying. But it is not The End Of The World or The Worst Thing Ever. I am going in for x-rays on Monday and then I will know more and can get started on getting fixed.

Special shout out to Paul, who really is the most supportive person on earth. Someday, when we get married, I am going to shout the whole "in sickness and in health" line and then smile really big.

  • So.

I am experiencing some tooth pain in the tooth to the right of the knocked out ones. (Not sure what I am talking about? You can read the archives or just know that I spent all of 2006 and the better part of 2007 having and recovering from oral surgery that left me with tooth implants instead of my 9 and 10 teeth.) It feels like my good tooth is starting to shift to the left and to the back.

Being me, I am of course assuming the worst. That this tooth is dead and will have to come out and be replaced in a year and a half long drama.

Another possibility is that the root is undamaged and just recently it decided to shift and may require some sort of retainer.

What I am really hoping for is that it is all in my head and that actually this is a dream.

Needless to say, I am worked up.

I am going to visit a dentist out here in the next few days for X-rays that can be sent to my fantastic tooth man in California. He will know what to do.

And until I know what the plan is, I need to just take Ibuprofen and let this one go.

I had a scanner back in Sacramento, but it never made the move out to Maryland with me. Over Thanksgiving, I brought it out here and just today dusted it off to scan in some vacation polaroids. How could I have forgotten how simple and cool scanners are?

    Lovely

Not too often do I post other people's images but these engagement photos took my breath away. I love how they show love. And humor. And how the lighting is soft and the magic is real.

If you have a second, be sure to take a look at all of the beautiful work by photographer Max Wanger.
