Today was a pretty big day.

But the events are not something I am in a place to write about yet. Hopefully soon because man, am I excited.

And I have the feeling that eventually my creative thoughts will come back – thanks for your patience and for joining me in this space.

Photo is the new Paper Source Valentine window – how cool are those heart wreaths?

This positive spirit, this commitment to service, this pride for our nation, this get up and dance – THIS is good.

Photo from here. Great video here.

(And now I will probably return to regular posting – though I hope America turns the corner to a better regular life.)

Because they will ask, right? Someday they will ask where I was and how I felt.

I will tell them that I watched everything unfold on TV – and grumbled over the fact that I was so close and yet so far to the millions of people who flooded the capital today.

I will tell them that I clapped my hands and stood on the couch as President Obama walked out on to the stage to cheers.

I will tell them that I was gitty with excitement and so proud of the confident man who now represents my country. The President who believes that "people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy."

Interesting site here comparing inaguration words of past presidents.

I received a pretty fantastic gift on Saturday: a five year diary. 365 pages and each is dedicated to one day of the year. Each day is divided into 5 sections which for me will represent 2009-2013. I am in love with this idea. It is scrapbooking in its simplest form.

I am now quite motivated to do at least one interesting thing per day outside of work.

We faced the cold to wander the capital mall this morning. I will be working for my PR job (I got permission to work from home – but I'll be busy none the less) on the day of the inauguration and so I figured heading in two days early to see the excitement and the preparations was the next best thing. The city is already starting to vibrate.

The Pepsi ads were scattered all over – and while I am a Diet Coke girl, I appreciate them greatly as an Obama fan.

I have exactly zero young daughters, but have wanted to Netflix Enchanted for the longest time. It came and we watched it last night. OH MAN. It was fantastic. Smart + cute: just like Disney should be. Turns out watching real actors play cartoon characters is a real treat.

Not so enchanting is the weather. Yesterday the high in the district was 18*. Right now it is 13*…feels like 3*. Tomorrow we are expecting snow. I am currently playing the pack-on-as-many-layers-as-possible game.

Surely, you will be hearing about this great blog soon (if you have not already.) I sent in my "i love you more than ____" last night and it was posted this morning. Honestly, I could have submitted any of these four – they are all favorite things of mine.

But at the top of my list to beat is… ketchup.

Paul, I do love you more than ketchup.

+ look for a new scrapjacked sometime today.

+ I am sponsoring a challenge at the creative type – enter by Jan 25th and win some letterpressed goods.

+ I am no longer aloud to send or receive text messages. So if you are a person I text with, let's switch to email or calls.

    + Happy Thursday.

(+ p.s. the photo above is mine. The floral image in the photo is from the most recent Domino EDITED : I did not take the photo in Domino – I hung the page on my wall because it is stunning and took a picture of it this morning! Sorry for the confusion.)
