40loaves

Bread no. 9 : pita bread

Adjustments : I cut the recipe in half.

Notes : Paul has been on a hummus making kick and we needed something for dipping. Turns out baking pita is practically easier than buying it.

Review : good with hummus and good with peanut butter and seriously so easy. I cooked mine on a pizza stone for about 4 minutes. I might extend that a bit longer next time.

Looks good. You can also use it as the crust for individual pizzas. Keep up the good work and interesting posts.

Pita bread is on my list of breads to make at home.
I really want to get into making flat breads and crackers, since it’s faster, and sometimes I don’t want to worry about whether the bread I make will rise. Looks great!

I had no idea that pita was easy to make! BTW really enjoyed you on Paperclipping Roundtable! I hope you are asked back often.

I love how simple this recipe looks! (and you suggest it is!) I’ve been trying to become less afraid of yeast this year – so far I have conquered the worlds best pizza dough (from eatliverun.com) and soft pretzels (from food & wine magaazine) and both have been SHOCKINGLY more simple than I’ve built it up to be in my head. I very well may need to try the pita bread soon!
