Maycurrently

working on getting at GET TO WORK BOOK pre-orders out the door. This is my greatest organizational undertaking by far and the only thing that's making it work is pure focus. Eyes on today, Elise, not tomorrow.

wishing I could push pause on everything else (email, blog, laundry, having to think about dinner) while I am tearing through this.

remembering that technically I CAN do all of that (you always have a choice).

realizing this is quickly turning into a pep-talk so I better snap out of it. (Welcome to my brain right now.)

ordering new books for Ellerie! Can't wait to inject some fresh blood into our library.

savoring backyard tomatoes.

looking forward to a doctor's appointment tomorrow! Can't wait to hear how the little one is doing. (16 weeks today!!)

wearing the denim vest almost everyday and loving it.

debuting my summer capsule wardrobe next week (although I'm already wearing it).

celebrating HALF A MILLION podcast downloads. This is crazy. I would for sure be popping champagne right now, but pregnancy and GTWB shipping means I'm popping bubble wrap instead. Thanks for listening!

loving seeing my friends become Mamas.

marveling that Ellerie is 23 months old today! I'll have a TWO YEAR OLD in 30 days and I'm so thrilled about it.

publicly thanking my mail lady. She's the best and doesn't complain about my 100+ packages going out the door each day.

needing to drink way more water. WAY MORE.

telling everyone I know to read this book.

appreciating every minute Ellerie lets me sleep.

knowing that when it rains it pours but I have the best umbrella.

wishing you a great Wednesday!

This week on ELISE GETS CRAFTY, I am chatting with Jacki Carr about goal-setting!  Subscribe or stream here. EDIT! If you downloaded the episode before 7:40 AM PST on Wednesday, you might have noticed it's a repeat episode! So sorry about that. Please redownload .. it's be edited to the correct file.

Just a heads up that an old podcast from April is up today-sad I had no new content to listen to on the way to work today

I wish I could help you ship! I love stuff like that. Also, I love that I will hold one of your books in my hands and get to USE it soon. Swoon! I’m also on the “drink more water” train and notice that it helps me a lot to keep a supply right where I am. A nice caraffe filled with water on my desk. Stainless steel bottles (one for me, one for Max – we use Klean Kanteen) when we’re out and about.
Hope you have a great day, too!

Hi Elise! I know you didn’t ask for advice, but as a nutritionist I could give you a good tip about “having to think about dinner”. From personal experience as well as my clients’, I’d recommend you to take 10-15 minutes one day of the week to plan your week’s meals. So, just write down what you’ll eat each day (you can use Pinterest when you lack ideas!). Then, make a grocery list with the ingredients you need and buy everything on the list one day of the week. This saves a HUGE amount of time, not just because you go only once a week to the grocery store but also because you don’t have to spend time during the day thinking about what you’ll prepare for dinner. Another plus is that you end up saving money too since you don’t have leftovers without a purpose lying around in the fridge.
Have a great end to the week! I always enjoy your podcasts so congrats for the half a million!!!

I love how you’re wearing your denim vest in that picture – I need to try mine with a grey t-shirt. I’ve been having trouble styling it – every time I try to throw it on I feel like (or am told!) I look like Robin Sparkles – http://tinyurl.com/mvxhaux
Lol – any tips on how else you style it??

Today I was “deep in newborn” and so that chat with Ann Marie was just what I needed to hear (again). Like she said: I just want to be happy and feel good about myself. As a new mom I feel the exact same way. So thanx for making that error;)
Will enjoy the new episode tomorrow!

I just downloaded one of your podcasts for the first time. I know this will sound stalkerish, but I’m mesmerized by your voice. You know how you kind of have an idea in your head as to what people will sound like, and it comes out totally different than what you thought? Yeah, that’s me. (In a good way, of course!) I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, but I can’t wait to get to know you better through podcast!

    Hi Elise,
Just ordered my Get to Work book…excited!
I’m a children’s book author and I read a TON of picture books, so here are a few you might like:
Up in the Garden, Down in the dirt:
An exploration of both sides of a garden, through all the seasons. Poetic with awesome pictures!
Stars: Another poetic one, talking about when you need a star, feeling like a star, stars in nature…so good.
All the World: Another poetic one, about the world as a whole, featuring AMAZING illustrations and a California Vibe.
The Most Magnificent thing: A little girl inventor gets made because she can’t make this AMAZING thing that she has in her head. Basically a great book for any creative, and kid. Along those lines are also:
    Ish and The Dot.
How to Read a Story: A really cute “how to” book about reading a story! With funny characters and voices.
Count the Monkeys: A great book where you are prompted to count the monkeys, only these other hooligans show up on the pages and you have to do some funny actions to get them out of the book! Really fun and interactive!
Speaking of fun and interactive, have you seen Press Here and Mix it Up? Amazing!
Another favorite is Where’s My Teddy? about a Teddy mix up.
New one: Baby Love, about, well, baby love.
There’s going to be a baby is a really good one about thinking about a new baby too.
And The Seven Silly Eaters is always a classic.
Wow, I realized I gave a lot of books there; sorry, I just feel like this wealth of knowledge on this topic! I know when you go to the bookstore there are so many to choose from. Hope you get some great books!!!

    Hi Elise!
I’m so excited for all of your adventures right now! I have a question that is none of my business, but I’m curious and I don’t think you will mind — but feel free to skip! Have they/will they be testing you for GD again this pregnancy? I’m curious because I had it, too, and it also came back right away when I started the next pregnancy! I don’t wish it on you, but I’m just interested!! As always, so thankful you share so much of your creative life with us all! I’m excited to get the GTWB, and combine it with the iChoose class that grabbed a year or so ago!
    🙂 dona
