scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

    Beautiful blanket!
I found your blog in late 2011? I found one of your craft project on Pinterest, then fell down the rabbit hole shortly thereafter. Your 2012 project life is the whole reason I started scrapbooking!

How rad! I love the randomness. I have been reading since 2007/8 & attempted to also make little playing cards daily like you were doing. It inspired me to work out my creative skills while also working hard at my college courses! And what a fun journey it’s been since then!

I’ve been a long time reader. Multiple years – long before the arrival of sweet Ellerie.
Very difficult choosing just ONE favourite post, but if I have to, I’d say the show&tell through your behance action book. http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2014/04/whats-in-my-behance-action-book.html
It was so neat getting a peek inside your everyday work.

Hi Elise! I have been reading your blog for about 4 years now. It’s one of the first things I look at in the morning. Your posts and pod casts have helped me to move past a lot of fears and just start doing things! Even if I fail, that’s ok at least I tried and can learn from those mistakes.

I love the grey and pinks and oranges, but especially the random pattern. I’ve been reading your blog for a long time. Too long to remember. I am guessing sometime before you got married. I remember not reading so much when it was all wedding plans but occasionally because I loved the great photography. I miss your project life posts because you had unique things to inspire me. The stories were great but then seeing the scrapbook with the stories was my favorite. That said I think my favorite was the title page for your 2014 album. The cards cut diagonally were so cool. But there is plenty of other stuff I love about your blog… recipes, knitting, succulents, photography. Fun to comment on your blog. You inspire me with your lists and that you truly accomplish them!

I remember reading the 2012 one and thinking how awesome it was and I loved reading about how your predictions came true! I guess that means I’ve been reading since at least the summer of 2012 but I definitely remember reading before that as well!

That’s tough! I’ve been reading for years and years and have loved seeing you change through the years. It’d have to be one of your dear ellerie posts, I wanna say about nine months, when, at least to me, you were back. Those first few months were hard (been there), you struggled to find your feet again, but you did and then by about nine months (or there abouts) your voice was back. You hit your groove. It’s an amazing age for babies and part of that is that mamas seem to get back to being themselves a bit more.
I’m waffling. But love the rug!

I have been reading your blog for many, many years….I think I started reading while I was at university – it was around the time you made the move to live with Paul and were still working multiple jobs. I love your blog, and have introduced it to a good number of my friends!
On another note, you know that post where you described a conversation with Paul about bloggers, and the tidbits of information that you use to describe them? My husband knows you as the creative lady who recommended the awesome restaurant in San Francisco with the ‘Be Amazing’ lights above the bar, that we visited on our roadtrip to the US from England in 2012!

i’ve been reading your blog since early 2013, and i am a huge fan. i just went through the archives to see if i could chose just one favorite post from 2014, but it’s pretty impossible. i think the thing i appreciate most about your blog, is your honesty. it’s so refreshing, and encouraging to not only see the beautiful aesthetic side of things, but to know that sometimes, things don’t work out the way you planned either. (though, i am always rooting for your success!)
i really enjoyed your business story posts, and your WDS posts. i will always be a fan of the dear ellerie letters, and will probably steal the idea from you when i have children.
however, the best tip of 2014? ice cubes to water hanging plants. saved. so. many. plants. i tell everyone about it. game changer.
thanks for the giveaway 🙂 it’s a really beautiful blanket!

You don’t really expect me to pick a favorite post, do you? I think I’ve been with you for 3 or 4 years now. I don’t subscribe because i like actually clicking the link in my google bookmarks bar, every morning, to see if there is a new post. Honestly, I love your honesty. I like it when you admit something just isn’t working, so you are trying something else, no apologies to readers who might want you to do “x” forever, just this does not work so I am not doing it. I have a tendency (and so does my husband, bad pairing on that trait) to keep plodding on well past it being obvious that whatever it is does not work anymore. Then I makes some simple change and it is like, dear lord, why did i keep torturing myself for so long? Project Life was great, then it wasn’t, so you moved on. I love how you let yourself evolve and that you are honest that the route from A to B is usually not at all direct.
