scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

I’ve been following you like more than two years now. And there werent’t any single day that i check out your blog. Maybe twice a day with hope that you post something new. I was witness of your business growth, your pregnancy, your motherhood, you moving into a new house and creating a whole new environment from scracth. I also read your archives till the first day ( yeah sometimes i have loads of speare time :o) ) so it’s been a journey for me too.. like i was next to you..like a friend – not a stalker dont get me wrong :)) – Anyway.. that could have been great if i receive sothing from you which could make all this journey is a real thing. Like you are really a person – coz sometimes i think you are a wonderwoman or somethingelse coz you manage tons of things done all by yourself! ( of course with tiny helps from the love ones but still..
have i said too much? anyway.. it’s been a pleasure to be with you for all these years.. thank you for sharing your journey with us..

I have been a daily reader for about two years. I first got hooked on your blog with your DIY post about your QBM booth backdrop a few years back. As time goes on, I love the small business insight and craft inspiration. And, now Wednesdays are my favorite days to drive to and from work — your podcast is the bee’s knees.

How in the world will I choose ONE post?!! That’s craycray, Elise. I loved watching the unfolding of the MAKE29 project. You are SO creative and SO inspirational. You make me want to make things! I think I’ve been reading your blog for 4 or 5 years, I’m not sure. What I do know is I love it! And I read it every day for a little inspiration. Thanks for making things like it’s your job, Elise. Oh, wait, it is!

I think I first started reading after buying the Christmas paper/hole punch/ring scrapbook. (You had a good name for them and it has totally escaped me.) That was in 2008 probably. Reading the blog has just become a part of my day. My favorite this year is the December Make29. That type of goal setting is my favorite. I LOVE to cross things off a list!
My hubs is in the Navy, so your posts about Paul’s deployments have been especially salient. As we talk about having a baby this year, I worry about how often he is gone. You always come to mind because I think, “Other people have kids when their husbands are deployed. They seem to manage ok.”
I’d love to have the blanket. Then it wouldn’t seem so weird when I call you by name as I talk about something from the blog 🙂

I’ve been reading your blog for about 2 years now. As a new mom, I love your #eliselovesmornings posts. During my babes morning nap, your calming pictures have reminded me to take that time to be by myself and embrace the calmness and newness of the morning. I now really treasure that bit of morning time I have to start again.

Those are such lovely colors! Perfect to curl up in and read a book while drinking tea. I think I have been reading your blog daily since 2008. Back in the day when you still had your Etsy store and I bought a couple of your mini-albums. I followed you because I loved your sense of crafting and putting together a mini-album – I still loved the one from your NYC trip! Thanks for continuing to inspire us. =)

Such a beautiful blanket!! I found your blog through your Project Life kit design. Since I’ve become a devoted follower though, I’ve gone back and read most of your posts since you and Paul got engaged. My favorite posts from 2014 have been the E & e series. It inspired me to make a series like that for my 2015 PL book. Every month I’m going to do it with me, hubby and 3 kids. So excited! 🙂

It’s very hard for me to pick a favorite post, but I think that flip flop post you wrote not long ago was fantastic! I am looking forward to what you have in store for your readers for 2015!

To be honest, I had to go through your archives to find out since when I have been following your adventures: 2009. And I can not really pick a favorite post but love the following “themes”: DIY canvas painting, Project Life, Small business, Goal setting and Book reports – I believe one of my favorite quotes comes from one of those: “better done than perfect” and because of it I started my own small business adventure and etsy shop last month.
    https://www.etsy.com/shop/MarvelousKnits
I am still learning as I “make” (my OLW 2015) it happen. But it is so much fun and I am looking forward to seeing where 2015 takes you and your blog/business. Birgit

Love the story behind this blanket:) I think I’ve been reading since just after Ellerie was born, we were trying for a baby and I loved reading about your experience,be specially your letters to her. It made me so excited for our turn. Our little girl, Ruby, was born on the 1st September and you have inspired me to write to her, it’s not regular, just random thoughts here and there, but I hope she will treasure them one day.

I have been reading your blog for nearly 3 years! I have loved all of it but I have been in awe at how open you have been in sharing the process of beginning your own business and how you have grown things – not many people like to give away things like that and I have really appreciated hearing your story told! it’s beautiful and inspiring and you write so so well! I have found that I am a lot more creative in my spare time, picking up projects that ive always wanted to do, started project life and enjoyed my mornings much more – a coffee and a space to be quiet.
It’s been a joy to read every post and follow yours and your families journey! GO ELISE!!

How kind you are to offer a beautiful giveaway like this!. I just started knitting and I can’t imagine being as proficient as you are. I have been reading your blog for about 2 years – I found you through another blogger’s link but can’t remember whose. My favorite post in 2014 was about time spent consuming vs. creating. Generally, I love the goal setting/creativity category and the Dear Ellerie letters. Your wide range of topics and amazingly consistent posting schedule are two things that keep you at the top of my blog list. 🙂

So fun! I crocheted a scrap wall hanging thing a few months ago. Same thing, wanted to make and didn’t have enough new yarn around so just started adding together. When I was done it wasn’t big enough for much so a friend hooked it on a stick and stuck it on her wall.
I don’t remember a favorite post but started reading your blog about 3 (?) years ago? I was living in MD at the time right outside DC and something else I was reading linked to one of your old MD posts. That’s initially what hooked me, I thought you were local. 🙂 Love your writing style, honesty, and positive outlook.

Happy New Year, Elise! I happened across your blog just a few months into my pregnancy and marveled at how gracefully you were managing your own (on top of being inspiring with everything related to life in general). Thank you for sharing everything you do, so openly. Just wanted to comment here to let you know that I recently shared your post on how to start a podcast with our local public radio station (my husband started a new radio show there last week) and they were stuck on the process of how to post the show outside of their website. When my husband mentioned this at dinner, I shared your link with him and the station right away and am happy to say the first podcast is up today 🙂 Thank you again for all you do – best wishes from Chapel Hill, NC!

From air plants to homemade books to serious coffee-brewing, you are always inspiring and a great example of The Nike slogan “Just Do It.” (How about “Just Make It.”) Something about this blog always makes me come back.
