scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

I found you during Paul’s first deployment. I had just moved to a new city, and I identified with the need to craft it up. I’ve been a loyal reader ever since, and am in LOVE with this blanket 🙂

Beautiful blanket – the colors are warm & I’m sure it is too! I only regularly follow a few blogs & yours is one of them. I’ve been reading it for at least a year, maybe closer to two…I don’t really know. I believe I originally came across you because of a scrapbooking post, but I’ve come to enjoy your blog for much more. I love your sincere honesty as a mother, wife and business women. And since my kids are older (13 & 9), I absolutely adore Ellerie and all her toddler tales. As a matter of fact, my favorite posts from 2014 are your monthly E & e likes…I even passed the idea on to my sister who has a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old. Keep up the great work in 2015! I have my daily goal tracker ready and can’t wait to see your planner later this year.

Oh, This is a beauty! I have been reading your blog since the ampersand nail project. I have one in my home that I did in the basement during nap time hoping my daughter wouldn’t wake up with the noise from
the hammering. My favorite post of the year was the time zone post. I loved your Ellerie letters and your honest expression of the rawness that comes and then turns to pure joy. My favorite all time posts were the decorating posts at your home near the beach. Love what you are doing, Elise! Thank you.

I can’t pick one favorite post but my favorite “genre” would be anything you scrapbook (project life, mini books, etx) and photo books! Looooooove your fresh ideas on photography angles and ideas and how to use them in your scrapbooking. I did really enjoy your story of how you got to where you are today. Excellent writing and kept me so interested and waiting for the next entry!!

Love that blanket! Can’t pick a favorite, but have been following you since before Ellerie. I had GD also, so I found some of those posts to be so helpful in the midst of it all (was prego before you had Ellerie and then not too long after – a 2 yo and a 7 week old)

Hey Elise, I’ve been reading since I found your blog through a Project Life link, I think it was back in 2012. I found your tenacity to stay with the Project Life very inspiring. And even though I couldn’t do it every week like you did, it gave me a more cohesive way to collect my photos and memories from vacations and put them all together in one place. Your DIYs have inspired me and this Make29 project was pretty cool. I also found the capsule wardrobe (Unfancy) through another blog, so it’s funny that we both came to it at the same time. I have NOT been able to downsize quite as much as you, but it sure has helped me to rethink what I buy and not buy so much or just cause it’s on sale. I like reading your end of the week post, the Weekend Links, I go through every link if it piques my interest and investigate it. You have steered me onto some interesting things. I also like your book reports and even though we don’t often read all the same kind of books, I like to hear about new ones I haven’t heard of and your opinion on the ones I’ve read. I can’t imagine myself putting it all out there for everyone to read, but those of us that do, really appreciate it!

I’ve been reading your blog since 2009. It’s been such a great source of inspiration for me, especially your post about college. I was right in the middle of a difficult time in college where I was seriously doubting my future plans. The video you posted that day turned everything around for me and gave me the push to keep moving forward. Thanks so much for that!

My favorite post of 2014 has to be…drum roll…i have always loved your project life posts it gets me started and motivated for my PL projects, but i think specifically for 2014 i loved the E & e posts. i think they’re totally simple and perfect and something you’re both going to look back on and appreciate. It’s totally awesome and unique but also something any reader/mama could do with their little one(s) or a person could do with their S.O. anyways all the best in 2015, you’re one of my favorite ladies on the web and always a happy upbeat blog to read. can’t wait to see what you make in the new year.

I have been following your blog for about three years now! It has followed me (I have followed it??) through most of college. It’s almost like having a big sister who has things mostly figured out (so can give good advice) but it is still cool and fun enough that I would want to visit her often (and steal her wardrobe). You have shaped who I aspire to be, in many ways. This blanket would be perfect for late nights spent studying, a subtle reminder of what I have to look forward to.

The first very post of yours I can remember reading was when you did your big art piece with Rise Against lyrics. It’s one of my favorite songs and thusly, your blog became a favorite too. But this past year, I’ve really loved your weekend links posts. It’s turned me on to so many new blog/bloggers and ideas – I’m going to attempt a capsule wardrobe this spring, for sure! I even have a stash of scraps of yarn I want to turn into a blanket one day too!

I’ve just recently found your blog (this past summer/fall semester) and I absolutely love it! You’ve been a major inspiration in my deciding to pursue Graphic Design as my major in college and set goals for what I really, REALLY want to do in the future, not just what I ‘should’ do. The posts I find most inspiring of yours are the ones where you share your projects and creations, as well as your small business story series. That’s what really inspired me to start making my own way NOW and not waiting for things to fall into place.

I’ve only been reading your blog for two years but have trawled your archives! (See it was worth all that work organising your archives!) My fave post is your post about not organising your digital photos!! Weird I know but the weight that took off my shoulders was h-uge! I like to set goals (hence loving your blog) and am organised in parts of my life but my digital photos are organised by event or week of a certain year and that’s it! I back them up but never get around to deleting the ‘bad’ ones or getting rid of some. My goal is to take them, print them and memory keep using them. To hear someone as organised as you not have your photos super-organised made me feel sooo much better! I enjoy reading from Australia and wish you the very best in 2015!
