scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

Oh man such a pretty blanket! I’ve been reading for maybe two years or so… maybe longer, I’ve lost count. I love love LOVED your small business creation series that you did, and the process of creating each Make 29 project. Your blog is one of the few I read right away whenever I see it pop up in my RSS feed, just so you know. 🙂

I have been reading daily for about 2.5 years now! I love all of your pieces on goal setting, I think the one that struck me most was make it public, make it happen. This has totally become my mantra ever since (even if “public” sometimes means telling just one person!). Thanks for writing every day and keeping so many people inspired! Can’t wait for 2015 and the projects you have in store!!

I think one of the first post’s I ever read was when you announced you were pregnant. So much fun to watch your excitement and the joy you have experienced with your little one. Love the blanket too. They were all sold out by the time I got to your blog that week, but I loved them all.

Such a wonderful news 🙂 I found your blog looking for maternity inspiration in order to do something special to my niece when I heard about my sister pregnancy. And that was in Dear Ellerie week 5.
I’m in love with your blog since then. As it was really inspiring to me, my favorite post in 2014 was the Dear Ellerie photo book post. I wish I had had all my mum’s thoughts in real words like that! Lucky little Ellerie 🙂
Thanks for making me happier with your post!

As it was really inspiring, my favorite post this 2014 was the final dear Ellerie photo book post. Lucky little ellerie, I wish I had had all my mum’s thoughts like she has.
Thanks for making my life happier with your posts!

I have been reading since before you and Paul got married! I’ve really enjoyed your podcast this year. As someone’s who’s trying to start freelance more and turn her hobby into a skill people would pay for (big client meeting today! Hooray!) I love hearing all the doubt and stories of “I had no idea what I was doing!” And “I had to google how to do it.”

I have been reading since Summer 2014 and my favorite posts last year were about your motivational speech at WDS. I gave my first ever scientific work speech in October at a large conference and I was sooo nervous (but it went well I think 🙂 I was inspired reading about and then watching your talk!
I also like the ‘currently’ posts, as well as looking at all the ellerie photos. I love how you capture her daily life!

LOVE this blanket! I’ve been following your blog consistently since atleast 2012 – but when I ‘learned’ of you I went back and read a ton of your past posts. To choose my favorite post from last year is tough! First thing that comes to mind are your Dear Ellerie letters. Your post about making Project life more relaxed rather than weekly documentation was most inspiring and has helped me a ton in keeping my PL album up to date. Thank you!

I honestly do not know how long I’ve been reading your blog but at least two years. I’ve enjoyed so many of your posts but the one that stands out to me just now is kinda silly but it was your Chemex coffee post. I bought a Chemex after and even emailed you about where to find the “coffee sock” (tee hee). I treat my morning coffee like a wonderful self care ritual that begins my day with the slow and thoughtful process that the Chemex requires. I even drink my coffee now with both hands around the cup to really make me stop other things and just “be” for a moment before the whirlwind of the day begins. I am so appreciative of this post because it goes way beyond “just a coffee maker idea” for me. 🙂 Jenny
p.s. if I am chosen for your sweet blankie, I will pay for shipping.

Been following your blog around the time you got married and I think my favourite posts of the year (and in general) are the ones where you make things, be it the project life, the photo books, the make 29, the crafty things. You make it easy and interesting to follow and not so scary to try myself should I choose (although my attempt at the nail polish cards were a complete failure!).

I’ve been reading your blog since stumbling across it when you were a newlywed. I’ve enjoyed the mini books you’d made of your travels with your husband, your recipe posts, your black and white triangle based quilt and most recently the post about how you try to do things one day at a time. I purchased the pdf document of the 365 goal setting page as I liked your determination to deal with goals in a thoughtful, but realistic way. I’ve also enjoyed reading the comparisons and seeing the photos of how you and your daughter are similar, but also different (i.e. types of shoes you each wear).

Looking forward to all of your posts in 2015. One of my favorite posts that I recently saw was a “currently” type post you did with pictures of what you were doing and what your daughter was doing. Loved it! I totally want to steal that idea now.
