scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

I just started reading your blog in 2014 after seeing a friend that followed you on instagram. It was perfect timing because I have a little girl that is just 2 months younger. My favorite post was about your favorite books for baby.

Love that this blanket is a combination of all (some) of the make29 blankets! I’ve been reading since I did a google search for bridesmaids cards in 2009? and found your blog. I got married a few months after you and then had a baby a few months after you, so I feel like we’ve been at the same point in our lives. But my favorite post was when you announced you and Paul were expecting…I was newly pregnant…and not telling anybody, and I just smiled thinking Yay Elise is pregnant too!

I have been reading your blog since before you moved back to San Diego. I, too, am a military wife (my husband is an Army Chaplain) and have found such inspiration in the way that you have carved out a creative, fulfilling professional life for yourself amidst being “married to the military.” I enjoy all of your posts but am especially drawn to the posts about fixing up your new house. Although I’m in a later season of motherhood than you are, I adore the E+e posts that you have been doing monthly.

Seeing your make29 project progress has been so fun and inspiring, and your little Ellerie gets cuter every day. While I would obviously love to throw that blanket over my lap (the high here tomorrow is a measly 9!), I’m even happier just to be prompted to tell you how much I appreciate being able to follow along your journey as a fellow human. Thanks, Elise!

Hi Elise! I have been reading your blog for a couple years now and love your encouraging words (to yourself and others) and also your honesty. I cannot choose just one feature I enjoy most! You have inspired me with so many: I started my own Project Life album, struggled with you on keeping plants alive inside and in the garden, dabbled in painting, set personal challenges to learn new crafts… The list goes on and on. Your blankets are all lovely. I am a beginner in crochet and terrible at knitting (I can not figure out how to fix mistakes), but I certainly am amazed by anyone who can create anything by hand. It is so much work!

Hello. I found your blog during one of my early late night feeding session when my daughter was a newborn. I remember finding it through someone on Instagram and feeling like I was meant to find it. I was struggling with a colic baby and recovering from a c-section and just being a new mom. Your blog spoke so much to what I was going through at that time. I was so happy to find it and I have read it daily every since. My favorite post would have to be the early Dear Ellerie letters because had it not been for those I would of never found your blog. Since that time I think my favorite post from 2014 was the WDS video post. Your words were inspirational and empowering!

I’m already planning to do it myself (even if I don’t have a child yet); maybe in a different way, who knows! I just love how it is a form of memory keeping without being boring.. but original and fun!

    Hello!
Your so sweet to offer a give a way. I have been a daily reader for 2 years now, and yours is the only blog I have to read each morning before I start my work day! You are constantly inspiring me to push myself and do better at my own work. I love your writing style and how open you are with your small business successes and processes, it really pumps me up. My fav post of 2014 would probably be part Uno of your small biz story. It is so true that the things we love as little kids, books we read, the classes we are drawn to in school, can be a strong indicator of what we end up becoming, and it was so cool to see you make that connection to your kiddo days. Looking forward to a fabulous 2014 with you Elise!

It inspired me to create an album for my husband, which I think is the best present I have ever given him. He loves it, and says looking at all the good times we have keeps things in proportion onmore difficult days.
