Around here we are settling back into a normal routine. Paul has spent the last four weeks alternating between night and evening shifts which has made the days, nights and evenings a little confusing and disoriented for all three of us. I am so excited to have a partner back for the dinner and bedtime routine. Plus weekends! We are going to get our weekends back for awhile.

Around here it's starting to feel like fall. I always notice the most real season change right after Daylight Saving Time. In March, when the evenings stay lighter it always starts to feel like spring. And in November when it gets dark right at 5pm it feels like fall. We're finding ourselves reaching for an extra quilt (which obviously thrills me to no end) and figuring out a way to keep Ellerie warm through until morning (so far this, while gigantic on her, is working great).

Stashcourse1

Around here I just got my USE YOUR STASH eCourse transferred to elisejoy.com. This is the exact same class that I offered through A Beautiful Mess last April. But those girls are changing up their line-up for new and exciting things (like Happy Mail!) and so we decided to move the class to my site. You can learn more here.

Around here I am making plans for MAKE29. Here's a peek at November and here's a very early peek at December. This project continues to make me happy and that's such a win. I don't know what I expected on day one, but I based on my project track record, I didn't expect to be so obsessed with it still.

Around here we are keeping a running list of Ellerie words. It's up to 20 at last count. I marvel daily at what she understands. (This made my week.) It's unreal to witness this growth at such close range. We're also learning all about boundaries right now. Like "Ellerie, you can't color on Mama's white cupboards." But also "Mama, you can't leave your highlighters all over the floor."

Around here I just placed a bulk order for some film.

Around here Taylor Swift's 1989 album is on repeat (my steps are through the roof with all the dancing). And I literally count the days (6 to go!) until it's Thursday so Paul and I can listen to Serial and then discuss with fervor if this is just going to be a good story with a non-ending or if we are going to get to see a crazy case cracked open. (So far we have not googled to find out.)

Around here it's already November 7th and I have not purchased one single decorative gourd. This is insane.

Have a wonderful weekend. And happy early birthday Dad! 61 looks great on you.

You captured my feelings on Serial EXACTLY. Right now I’m guessing the case stays inconclusive. And I change my mind on a weekly basis on whether he’s guilty or not. I’m working abroad at the moment and have a 30-minute walk to the office, so I’ve been listening to your podcast on the morning walk to get revved up for the work day, and then Serial to unwind on my way home (slash get revved up to solve murders). A perfect combination!

YES! Serial is such an obsession! I google EVERYTHING and it is killing me with anxiety not knowing since I know I could possible find out some background stuff…my guess, this Jay guy can’t be alive, right? Because why is his last name not revealed. Why hasn’t she mentioned where he is now…then that damn Mr S guy. What the heck are the chances that this “streaker creeper” would just stumble upon the body??? Oh I could go on and on…

Hi Elise! I’ve been a quiet reader until now. I just wanted to drop in and say that I’ve been binge listening to your podcasts. I’m sad that I’m almost through all of them and my commute is going to be sad again 😦
I’m just starting up my travel blog although I’ve blogged home decor in the past. It’s really nice to not only get some motivation but to have some direction from somewhere that’s been there and done that. You’ve made me think about things really deep and hard when I was just scratching the surface before. Thank you! ANd please keep the podcasts coming 😉

Yes! Oh man, daily dance parties in my car with 1989 blasting. It’s so good. And ditto with Serial! Don’t worry too much about googling it- in all the interviews I’ve read with her, Sarah Koenig herself doesn’t know where it’s going to end up yet (although she is ahead of us in research of course, so I guess there is a chance something has happened recently). This past episode reallllly feels like it will lead to a breakthrough though… I hope!!

Another perk of those Halo sleeper things? Toddlers can’t get their legs spread far enough apart to try climbing out of their cribs. 😉

I thought this week’s Serial was best yet. Finished the book I was reading that I commented about yesterday all in one binge sitting… Five star book for sure, and probably the best book I read all year!

For the record – I couldn’t wait and Googled the Serial story to see if I could find SOME kind of ending – and there was nothing to be found on the first couple of pages of Google search besides information about the podcast. So you’re not missing much!
Love the list of Ellerie’s words! 🙂

YES YES to Serial. So in love. CANNOT WAIT for every Thursday. This week’s episode genuinely made me cry, I was so excited about the extra investigators stepping up!
I find anything true crime fascinating, so I am preparing myself for next season’s story to not grab me as much.

I love counting my little one’s words – I have two kids, and it doesn’t get old. My 17 mo has about 20 words too, including animal noises.
Just for fun, since we are huge football fans, my husband and I were like “Avery, can you say, “TOUCHDOWN!?” and clear as day, she says “tushdow!” I’m like, how can you even say that?

That sleep sack looks great! We’ve been using the Carter’s sleepers and put a pair of long sleeve/pants pj’s underneath with a pair of socks and my guy is pretty toasty. The sleepers are a great price at Costco!

We’ve been loving listening to the Serial podcast too! Last weekend we went to Patapsco State Park for the afternoon and I was like Hey… While we’re out here we should check out that Best Buy and see if you could even get away with a murder there. (The answer is yes.) One of the perks of living in the general area, though I did feel like a little bit of a weirdo checking out the parking lot. Whatever! I’m sure I’m not the only one in the area who has done it!
