working on a palm tree photo wall(s) in our bathroom. This project has been waiting in the wings for six months and it's finally almost done. I am so thrilled about where it is headed and can't wait for the big reveal.

recording a bunch of podcast episodes for the next few weeks. I am so happy I added this extra project to my plate. Having an excuse to chat with and interview people who inspire me is so rad.

slimming down my closet like a crazy person. I am obsessed with this capsule wardrobe idea. Just 37 articles of clothing, for three whole months. I'm starting next week and I plan to share what made the cut on Tuesday.

feeling shocked at how quickly the MAKE29 clutches flew out the door. They were gone in 85 seconds. It felt over before it started which was really bizarre. The foldover clutch market (and wooden ampersand market) needs to be capitalized on, clearly.

loving this stage Ellerie is in. She is SO FUN right now. This week she learned how to do somersaults and how to climb into the rocking chair by herself it was the coolest. Sometimes I look at her and can't believe this strong little girl used to be my tiny baby.

knowing we made the right decision with daycare. My stress-level is at the lowest it's been in at least three years. What a difference it's made already.

taking Ellerie to the zoo this morning! Paul is off work today so we are headed out to see some animals before it gets too hot.

wishing you a great weekend.

I knew those clutches were going to fly. They were awesome! And you are so lucky she already doing somersaults. I remember trying to teach my sister at 7 or 8, it was tough. Start um young!

Loving that you’re doing a capsule wardrobe (I’ve been looking into trying Courtney Carver’s Project 333 at some point).
Feeling inspired to do my own podcast! My husband spoke to our tiny house builder last night(!), and I’m really wanting to do a tiny house podcast, different from what already exists out there. Happy weekend, Elise!

Ditto to Helene’s comment! Congrats! And ThankYou ThankYou ThankYou for introducing me to un-fancy! Was it first a weekend link i saw from here? Can’t remember, but oooooooooohh man have I been bit by the capsule wardrobe bug! I have been faithfully reading her blog, as i do yours, everyday! Such a great idea!
My reality is, that I probably use a similar number of pieces, but no two of them are thought out together, lol…until now! It’s getting cooler now, in Western NC, so this weekend is ‘go time’ for me with this project. I am going to pull all my cooler weather stuff out and sort through. Decide what stays and what goes, and make a plan from there. It just makes sense that if i’m going to have a smaller sized clothing selection, because that’s what I tend to do anyway…then it should at least coordinate! Ha! (And Duh, all at the same time!)
Also following Caroline’s lead in deciding now, on what stays/what goes from this past seasons selections. Will make next year that much simpler! THANKS Elise!

I’m not surprised the clutches went that quickly. I didn’t even attempt it, even though I really wanted one. Enjoy the zoo – the San Diego Zoo is a good one.

Elise!! I have a CA-themed gallery wall planned, and would absolutely buy a palm tree print/canvas from you if you made them for sale!

Going to the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park with my daughter during the 0-4 years will always have a special place in my heart. Passes are totally great investment.
And 37 pieces in a wardrobe seems huge to me. I think I need to go count and see if I have more or less than that. Perhaps i’m not as minimalist as I believe.

In your quest for the perfect tee, have you tried making your own? Indie pattern designer, Deer and Doe, has a free t-shirt pattern available: http://boutique.deer-and-doe.fr/29-tops-plantain-t-shirt.html
There are tons of ways to customize it and I’m sure you’d have fun playing around with getting the perfect fit.

Omg, 85 seconds! That’s crazy but I can totally see why. Love the idea of a palm tree gallery. I was thinking about making one of greenery in general since I can’t seem to keep the real stuff alive. I recently read an article about how highly successful people create their own uniforms (think Steve Jobs’s black turtle neck ensemble) so they have more time to focus on ideas and not day-to-day stuff. It’s totally made me want to slim down my closet, too!

I am so glad you started the podcast too. I have enjoyed listening to many of them over the last few months.
I have to take an online class at the community college I teach at so I can be certified to teach online classes. Just this week your podcast inspired the idea to create a podcast for my future classes to hear interviews from various people I know doing work that brings sociological concepts to life.

I did the minimal closet thing in the early spring and I didn’t think it would last, but I absolutely love it. I just did clothes, I didn’t count accessories or jewelry, which I don’t have so much of anyway. I got rid of a lot, but also just put stuff in bins that were out of season or I couldn’t decide if I wanted to keep. I cycle things when the weather changes or when I get sick of my selection, which seems to happen about every 3 months. It is incredibly freeing to only have a small number of things to choose from, and know I like all of them.
