HEY! I had a boring block of text written here but I'm changing it up….

I'm sort of in an odd "in-between" zone with work right now. August feels like a lull in the year. Too early to gear up for the excitement that is fall. Too late to be impressed by hot summer days. Starting to wonder "what's next?" while simultaneously wanting to pull the covers over my head for a few more days. It's strange. My brain is quiet but antsy which is the very worst combo.

All of this is a recipe for a classic downward spiral of "meh" but then…THREE THINGS, in rapid succession, helped me beat the blahs at about 4:45PM on Thursday 8/7.

  1. Ellerie, doing this. YES!
  2. Gavin, drawing this. YES!
  3. Erin, sharing this. YES!

Awesome. Let's roll, August.

That cartoon!!! That whole series!! I hadn’t heard of it, thank you!
Also, loved the post by Design For Mankind, especially this line at the end: “Blogging won’t die, because it was never truly alive. The stories, the voices – that’s where the heart beats. And storytelling, friends, is forever.”
You tell your story and I’m so glad you do. Keep on rocking it, Elise.

For me, I think I’m going to force enjoyment of a few more hot summer days. Those links really are awesome for cheering up, though! Your little hula dancer is awesome.

What is it about August that makes people want to hide out? I want to curl up in bed and just sleep for the rest of this month. It is not off to a good start and doesn’t show any signs of changing any time soon.

If Ellerie’s adorable dancing? doesn’t beat the blues, there is no hope!! She is SO cute and this stage is so fun-hang on for dear life! I laughed so hard at this little video-precious.

You know what I think? It’s never too early to be excited for fall. I just made baked pumpkin pasta for dinner, and I can’t wait for the whole world to join in my pumpkin excitement.

This is unrelated to this post but I wanted to tell you, I’m listening to your podcast with Cathy Z. and it resonated with me when you said you stopped listening to podcasts because you are doing yours. I host a scrapbooking podcast and I used to be a die-hard listener/fan of Paperclipping but I had to pretty much stop listening to PRT because I wanted mine to be completely authentic. I try not to pay attention to what other scrapbooking podcasts are saying or doing but I do miss them! I love listening to yours because it’s nothing like mine and you always inspire me to keep going with all my thoughts, dreams and plans. Thank you for that!! You are so inspiring. I’ve always loved your blog but your podcast is the bomb dot com! πŸ™‚ I’m so, so, so glad you do it!

    Hey lady!
The photo of your garden at the start of this post just reminded me: I am reading a book called Make Your Place, and it absolutely reminds me of something you would be into. I thought I would share.
    Keep being an awesome inspiration!

I almost didn’t read this post. SO glad I did! Love the Zen Pencils cartoon! I’m going to use it the first week of school with my 8th grade students. Some of them are SO afraid of trying anything for fear of failure.
