Weekend28

As part of my word WHOLE this year, I want celebrate the work of others by sharing links to my friends, possible friends and complete strangers who are doing great things on the Internet. This is some of the rad stuff I recently saw online…

let's all move to Germany.

interesting interview about building a capsule wardrobe each season.

LOVED this article about how a password (aka bold statement) can change your life.

this recipe might get me out of my baking slump.

just bought these shoes for an outdoor wedding and I hope they're cute IRL.

and how sweet is this personalized wedding gift?

bold predictions for 2025.

inspiration for my next weaving, maybe?

DIY triangle dream catchers.

Oh I LOVE the article on parenting in Germany! I’m from Germany myself and while the German view on the up-bringing of children in our country is (typically German…) rather critical, this article focuses on the REALLY GREAT aspects of parenting here which we often take for granted, forgetting the advantages our country provides.
So, come on, hope to see you in Germany soon! 😉

The post on parenting in Germany is awesome. The maternity pay for self employed is just brilliant and the thing about how to deal with children taking things makes so much sense… unbelievably annoying when your child takes something and as your telling them to give it back, the parent of whoever says ‘it’s ok, so&so needs to learn to share’. That’s not learning to share that’s teaching my child he can take anything he wants and the other child they have to give something up before they’ve done with it. I also love that they don’t formally teach children to read and write until they’re 6. There seems to be lots of research about how formal learning, too soon, can be detrimental to children in the long run and yet in England there’s huge emphasis on tests and statistics from 4 years. I know your super busy but if you ever get time you might be interested in this on youtube http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=aiZW0jIngc8

I agree with Sue C, and I guess I never thought to say so out loud. But yeah, you inspire me Elise to do the same, to actively seek out neat things to share in a weekly round-up.

Thank you for these exceptionally well curated weekend links! I am in need of a wedding present and love Kal Barteskys work (discovered via you). Also I just started to work as a self-employed tagesmutter, so perfect timing with the parenting article.
Love your blog and I tremendously enjoy your podcast, too.
We would love to have you in Germany, Elise!
