Grilled Cantaloupe

When we were in Houston, Paul and Pascal dropped by Whole Foods to pick up some stuff for dinner. They were sampling "grilled cantaloupe" and the guys said it was awesome.

"What was on it?" I asked.

"Season salt." said Paul.

"Hmmm." I said.

Later that week, we grilled up some of our own. We just sliced the cantaloupe and covered both sides with season salt. I left a few "un-seasoned" to see which was better and seasoned won by a landslide.

Awesome and easy summer treat. Throw on the grill after you've grilled your meat and cook for just a few minutes on each side. Eat right away…then go to the store for more cantaloupe.

I always have a salted vs unsalted cantaloupe debate with my husband. He won’t eat it without, I won’t eat it with. We may have to try this.

This sounds like a really good idea, as long as you’re able to pick a good cantaloupe. I’m so bad at picking fruit, other than bananas.

Man… Our Aussie ‘Rockmellon’s’ got ripped off with an interesting name – Cantaloupe sounds like an animal I’d see out on safari in Africa…. I believe I am thinking of Antelope there though hehe
    Looks delicious.

Elise!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve been dying to try it. So, when my boyfriend and I bust out the grill for our 4th of July feast tonight, I insisted we give this a try. It was incredible! I will be making this again and again and again. Happy 4th to you and yours from North Carolina 🙂
