Sungolds

My backyard garden has been off to a rather rocky (err, hot) start this year. I'm working on it (buying earthworms is on our agenda today!) but so far, so slow.

These three sungolds are the first (delicious) fruits of the summer. One for each of us.

This week on ELISE GETS CRAFTY, I'm talking with creativity coach Jen Lara about creativity! We discuss how creativity can be measured and improved …and we talk a bit about how I scored on the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking Jen administered to me earlier this month. I’m jealous! Here in Cape Breton it is still quite cold. The leaves are not fully out on the trees yet, and tomatoes are certainly not ready to eat!
I’m looking forward to listening to the podcast on my drive home from work today. It’s become a nice Wednesday ritual to look forward to!

A slow start, maybe, but it’s producing!!!
It felt like my garden was getting off to a slow start, too, compared to last year. And on top of it once my seedlings began sprouting I realized I didn’t plant nearly enough green beans. So last Friday I headed out back, planted the rest of the seedling from the packet, and was SHOCKED yesterday afternoon when I went to check the garden and saw that my seedlings have already sprouted a solid 3″ out of the ground. It’s like all of a sudden the thing is taking off. Guess it just needed a little time. No complaints here!

Gardening is so tough when the weather isn’t cooperating! Just keep sending it some love (and the earthworms will probably help too, haha)!

Hopefully your garden starts flourishing soon!
I just finished listening to today’s podcast episode. Very interesting! I’m curious to know what my scores would be.I can totally relate to having multiple ideas, feeling overwhelmed by them, and not knowing how to properly gauge them. Something to work on for sure.

Yumm! Everything is sweeter when it’s from your own garden. I bet Ellerie will love the worms!

Nom nom. I am jealous you can grow anything at all. I can’t manage to get plants to grow long enough, haha. Off to listen to the podcast.

I got my first from our tomato plants this week too! Though here in Georgia we’re dealing with too much rain, rather than too much sun. Sigh.

I have my own front yard with this apt. It had 2 giant raised beds in it. This year I planted wildflower seed in one, and the previous tenants (one was a farmer!) had tomato and herb plants in the other. It was growing, all lush and green and even overgrown…
Came home last night and the landlord had taken them out. And there’s no grass where they have been for the past 3 years.
So now it looks like the yard got a big ole Brazilian. All bald. I am sad. 😦
Well what can ya do, I rent.
Anyway I am learning a lot from your podcasts! Enjoying them.
