This is what yesterday, May 4, 2014, looked like at our house in San Diego, California.

I am going to make a point to get out my big camera more often on the rare days we get to spend together just the three of us. Taking photos – capturing us as we are, now – somehow makes the day feel longer and the moments more special.

Being able to "look back" at these photos just hours after they were taken is a gift. I cannot imagine how I will feel when I see them decades from now.

I was just thinking the same thing about photos this past weekend as I culled photos for a recent week of Project Life. When I take the time to look back through them, the week feels longer because I remember all the small bits that made up the time. Love that. How fun to live in a time where photography is so accessible.

I like what you say about how capturing photos makes the day feel longer. I notice that with any “in the life” series I do.
And I especially love looking back on them. I need to get better at changing my photo-perspective because those tell really good stories.
Also – I was surprised by how much I liked Ender’s Game. I don’t think I would have gotten it if I didn’t read the books, though

i love this, Elise. I know I’m a little sentimental right now, with my first born girlie in her final months living at our home before she heads off to another state to go to college. The sweetness in this everyday slice of life is palpable.

This is an amazing idea. My poor big camera has been thrown to the side since I got my i-phone 5 as the quality is fantastic. I might do a little of this, this weekend with my girls.

So beautiful. I need to do that too. Our two girls are very similar in age and with my first Mother’s Day this Sunday I think I too need to get the big camera out and capture our special day like this. Thank you for the inspiration 🙂

I use 1600 ISO and normally light balance to the right of zero. these past few weeks I have been editing my photos with actions from A Beautiful Mess and really LOVING the results! I’m planning to do a post on all this jazz soon.

The photography is amazing, no surprise there 😉
But MAN-OH-MAN — that Netflix shot. A REAL, “hard copy” DVD?! Those things are quickly becoming a relic! I loved seeing this because it reminded me of my semi-weekly walks to the neighborhood video store with my friends when I was growing up. We’d walk together a few days a week to pick out movies, look through the magazines, and buy our favorite treats. I SO wish my kids were able to have those sorts of experiences. Technology is great, but sometimes it dehumanizes experiences.

what did you think of Ender’s Game? I left the theater and immediately came home and bought the book- which is SO smart. I can’t believe it was written in the 80’s, the ideas are so current. Totally unexpected.
