ELISEJOYstamps

On Sunday at noon PST I'm closing the stamp shop doors.

This

I cannot believe that my little THIS on an arrow stamp turned into an adventure and such a sizeable chunk of my business. (You can read about how the stamp shop came to be here.)

Aroundhere86stamps

I started with six stamp designs in April 2012 and I am closing with 36. I was hopeful that the original pop-up shop would result in a few hundred sales and have been humbled by your support and overwhelmed in the best way with what it turned into. As of last night, I had sold 5835 stamps.

Here2Stampsample15

The biggest thing that came from the stamps is surprisingly, not the stamps themselves. The stamps were the push I needed to start my own self-hosted shop and streamline my packaging and shipping processes. (You can read more here about how and why I ventured away from etsy and to e.junkie in the process of launching the stamp shop.)

Aroundhere10

Since my original launch, I have moved even further away from "the shop that looked like a blog" into the "website that is a shop." I love website coding an awkward amount and so it's been a fun challenge (and less expensive!) for me to self-host.

Stampsample18

It's time to close because I'm ready for the next thing. It would be easy enough to keep cranking out four or five designs every few months, but the reality is that the sales are not coming in how they used to and ultimately, making stamps is no longer exciting to me. And that's okay. Change is good. Growth is good. Evolve or die, right?

Here4Aroundhere6Aroundhere9

Since day one, I have had the stamps produced in the USA by simonstamp.com and cannot recommend them enough. They are a great company to work with and I'll miss them (and they'll probably miss me and my crazy orders too, ha!).

Stamp1

So what's next? Soon I am launching a new shop concept that over the next year will play host to many different handmade items. It's bold and (perhaps a little too) ambitious but oh, it's been fun to think about and plan for. I will be experimenting with some new and old techniques, learning a lot and working like crazy. I can't wait to share more over the next few weeks. I hope you'll stay tuned.

Here6 Stamp

And as this era closes, I have to say, thank you. Thank you for your stamp shop orders and thank you for supporting my small business. Cheers to the next adventure.

While I’m a little sad you’re closing up the stamp shop, I’m excited to see what’s next. I’ve absolutely loved using your stamps over the past 2 years. They are ones I go to first when I want to add a stamped image to a layout or Project Life. My favorites have to be Rad, You are Here, and This on the arrow. Love them! Thanks again for having the idea to make your own stamps and then sharing that with the rest of us! Happy creating!

I just made my third order today and I really love your stamps. It’s always good to let go of something that isn’t that exciting anymore to make room for something new and fresh. I’m so looking forward what’s coming next. I’m sure it’ll be something extremely cool and inspiring.
(oh, and I love the last photo.)

Oohhh, that’s so sad. Can’t imagine a time without your fabulous stamps. They are so beautiful and I used them on every scrapbook project I can think of.
But I hope, this will be the right decision for you and am excited to hear more about your new project 🙂
Thank you for your stamps. They enriched my crafts so much!

You’re killing me with the suspense about your next big thing. I’ve bought several stamps from you and love them all. They’re great for Project Life, and I also use them for card making. My favorite is the “I Love” stamp.

It was fun to read the old post about setting up the shop and how you weren’t sure if it was going even last a few months! Well done you – I can’t wait to see what the next big plan is but I have no doubt at all that it’ll exceed even your expectations 🙂

Very excited to hear about your next venture (!) but man, what is going on with the pop-up ads? So very annoying and off-brand for you. Hoping it’s just a glitch in the system…

You’re stamps are awesome, but I’m so happy for you! Being able to let go of a project that you don’t have much passion for anymore is a wonderfully brave and sometimes hard thing to do. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

Just wanted to follow up here – I am trying a new ad system (that obviously I want to be as UN-obtrusive as possible) and pop-ups were not supposed to be a part of that.
I have removed the program for now until we can figure it out. Please let me know if you see anything like it again. I really appreciate it!

I’m so glad I got my favorite stamp (RAD!) before you closed up. I’m a homeschool Mama to my 4 kiddos and they love getting a RAD stamp on their work pages. It makes all of us smile, every day.
Can’t wait to see what you do next, girl. You are an inspiration.

I used to think that a business meant doing the same thing for the rest of your life. And maybe that’s true for some businesses, but I just love how you’re giving yourself permission to totally change directions and follow your interests and passions at any given time, and you can totally do that because YOU are your brand, and everyone knows that whatever you do is gonna be awesome. Thanks for that. Can’t wait for your next big thing.

I have an idea about how you could extend your reach with these designs, and remove a lot of the physical labor from your sales (i.e. shipping). I am moving to digital project life this year (and know several others are doing the same thing), so don’t have a use for physical stamps. Why don’t you turn these designs into digital stamps/brushes for PL? You can do instant downloads, and have a very nice hands-off revenue stream. Your designs are already done!

I wish your stamps would still be available but your new venture sounds really exciting. Can’t wait to see what you have planned. Wish you the very best. Michelle t

I’m excited to see what your next adventure is! Whilst I’m sad to see the stamp shop close (some of my favourite wood mounted stamps ever!), I’m grateful for your awesome designs that have revitalised my project life (I LOVE stamping the ‘today’ or ‘hello’ stamps all over plain cards, such a great idea)! So thank you 🙂
