Pinholepressbabybook Ppbook2 Ppbook3

You may remember that in May I had a maternity shoot with the fabulous Tara Whitney. Then, in July, after Paul was officially home from deployment we did a family shoot at the house. I have printed and framed a few of the photos from that shoot (hopefully more to come). But I really wanted a photo book of my favorite images and decided to go through Pinhole Press after seeing the beautiful wedding album a girlfriend of mine had made.

Pppbook4

I loved that there was a panoramic option so I could get huge seemless photo spreads. I used their online system and uploaded all my photos (it was quick and painless even though the files were huge) and choose from their various layouts to fit my needs.

Pppbook6 Ppbook8 Ppbook7

For the most part, the beginning of the book is the materinity shoot and the end is the family shoot, but I decided to mix the maternity photos in with the baby photos wherever it made sense.

Ppbook5

Like these two from a similar angle.

Ppbook6

And then with these three with the repeating theme of her baby quilt.

Ppbook11 Ppbook10 Ppbook9 Ppbook12 Ppbook14 Ppbook15

The book I made had room for 60 pages. Because I really wanted to print some huge (taking up a full spread), I was selective about what went in. There are some layout options that fit more photos – (I want to say 6 or 8?) – but for this book I only used the spreads that fit three.

Ppbook16

The spine and the backing are bookcloth (you can choose various colors) and the total size is 8.75 x 8.75 inches.

Ppbook13

I am SO thrilled with the quality. The paper stock and printing are beautiful and those panorama pages are so fun. I am also so glad that these photos are off my harddrive and into something that can be looked through. I predict there will be much more bookmaking through Pinhole Press in my future.

ps.. we ordered their calendars to give to the Grandmas for Christmas and the quality was awesome (even with iPhone photos!). Custom calendars are currently 20% off with code 2014.

please note : this is not a sponsored post. I paid for the book myself, adored it and wanted to share a truly excellent product and memory-keeping solution. However, the links throughout are affiliate, so if you purchase through them, I will recieve a small commission.

So beautiful! Both your family and the book ๐Ÿ™‚ I think some of your photo books in the past have been through Blurb. How would you compare Pinhole Press and Blurb? I am planning to do some photo books this year and have never used Pinhole Press. I am particularly wondering about size/page options and quality. Thanks so much for sharing–it’s lovely!

Elise, This is such a beautiful book! We’ve created a few in the past using the apple/iphoto option, and I’ve always loved them, but I’ll admit…the quality of who you used really shines through.
Do you think iphone pictures would translate as well to those glorious large photo spreads you have?

Looks great, Elise. In the most recent photo book I made, I loved including panoramic photos.
It looks like this one lays flat on its own, while your (and my) softcover Blurb books don’t. Is that because it’s hardcover, rather than paperback? It’s nice.

My husband did something similar for me for Mother’s Day when my baby was months old and I ADORED it.
But I am going to be honest with you, Elise. I was really, REALLY hoping to read about that “big new venture” for your shop and your new take on Project Life for 2014.
(This post didn’t dissapoint but I’m curious, girl and you’ve been teasing us with those subjects ๐Ÿ˜‰

Beautiful!! I just got married in October, and I’ve been thinking that, even though I want to make a more traditional scrapbook, it would be nice to have a printed book like this with some of the more stunning pictures.
This will be a good company for me to look more into. Thanks!

I would also love to get your take on blurb versus pinhole as I know you’ve been a keen user of blurb in the past. I’ve made a small blurb book and loved it but I want to make a large (more pages) book of 2013 so I’d love to hear which one you’d recommend more

I love my blurb books, but they don’t have the panorama spread page option (that I have tried at least). The Pinhole Press paper, print, design quality is just excellent. The best I have ever seen and I have tried many book printers. Totally worth the price, in my opinion. ๐Ÿ™‚
These books only have the bookcloth backing (which I love for this book) but depending on what you’re doing, that might not be ideal.
I was also impressed with how quick everything loaded (compared to blurb).

Time to update that PL button!
It’s so hard with a big project that’s taking up all my energy to keep things quiet and maintain status quo around here. I feel like my options are 1) complete radio silence, 2) let my excitement spill over a bit or 3) explode. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve been allowing the spill but realize that can be frustrating. Thanks for understanding. ๐Ÿ™‚
