Stockings5 Stocking6

This year, my mom sewed up three Christmas stockings. One for each of us. I picked basic red and white fabrics (stripes, dots & a mod branch) from Joann's and she used a McCall's pattern (Crafts M5778).

The stocking shape that came with the pattern was a little wonky (too high of arch!) and so I drew a more rounded "boot" shape for her to use. They turned out so great – thank you, Mom!

I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to identify them. I considered stitching our names or appliqueing our initials. Then I found these wooden letters at Joann's and decided they'd be a fun 3D edition. I stained them, drilled a small hole and strung them up with baker's twine. I love the modern look AND love that if in a few years I'd rather add our names, I can totally still do that.

I was stumped with how to hang them (we don't have a traditional mantle) but ended up using command hooks (sturdy but easily removable) and hanging them on the side of the fireplace. I love how they're brightening up that corner. Oh man, 'tis so the season.

ps… yep. Our initials together are PEE. How awful, yet hilarious. I prefer the much more pleasant EEP.

Very pretty – I like where you’ve hung them too. The wooden letters are a great idea. I stitched names on ours with yarn, but now I’m wishing I went the initial route – our initials together are AHA 🙂

That’s awesome! I noticed the initials right away as well. You could add another P if you decide to expand the family for ‘PEEP’. haha, sorry the coffee hasn’t quite kicked in yet!

How cute! My family uses wooden initials as well – but only about 2″ tall. The larger letters are great!

You might also consider a little “v” next, for: veep.

I love the way these look! They’re so bright and cheery! And those initials look great too; how funny that they spell “pee”!

I went with EEP first. I think it’s kind of a personality test..like a glass half full or empty type thing. If you see “PEE” first, you’re a grump.
    Or something.

Looks so cute! And instead of PEE or EEP, I saw Epe – the name of the tiny town in Holland where I was born. You could always go with that.:)(Although it’s not quite as hilarious.)

So funny about what your initials spell! I got initial stockings for us and our dogs and hung them like this: husband, T (looks like J), his dog, K, daughter, A, my dog, S and me, S.
A friend started snorting and asked if we meant to go with JKA$$
Needless to say, the order shuffled immediately!!

PEE – haha. That’s ok, the last initials in our blended household make our family monogram….PMS…. Casa PMS – never were truer words spoken.

At least you can pronounce your initals somehow – ours are JNM! Also, I need to make stockings for us next year. Or order some from my mom 🙂

I would switch the P to the right side so then it would go more “eep” than “pee” which is what I see rigth away now.
