It's funny – you do something once, it's nothing. You do it twice – it's something. You do it three times – it's tradition. This November, Paul and I will host our third Thanksgiving dinner in four years and we are very much looking forward to it. I realized a week ago that to build my "tradition" I needed to send out paper invitations (to the six family members we invite).

Per usual (see our 2010 invites here and 2012 invites here), I stuck with something handwritten and used supplies that I had on hand. This year it was gold Hambly transparencies layered on top of brown cardstock. I was looking through drawers to find the paper that would hold the text and I realized a Project Life 3×4 card would be perfect. I just had to round the corners of the 5×7 paper and it all made sense.

I wrote my simple text on the cards and stiched all three pieces together with my sewing machine. Then I stuck them in leftover envelopes, fancied them up with a heart stamp and washi tape and called them done! Now hopefully Ellerie's halloween costume will come together just as easily…

I love these! What a sweet idea. I’m sure your family members are all so touched to receive such a pretty meaningful note in the snail-mail! This inspires me to try to send a few more notes (once I finish my wedding thank-you notes….sigh).

I think I love the envelope even more than the card. So sweet and simple!

I really LOVE that you make and mail simple invitations to your close family. I got to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter and close family or friends, and no one EVER makes or mails invitations!
Last year I took your idea for the printed postcard Christmas card with a great photo and mailed it out. It was a HUGE hit and looked very impressive! Love the ideas and paper inspiration!

The stitches are a nice touch! What type of sewing machine do you use?
