work related : I'm always happy to get new stamps listed in the shop.

play related : My little girl is growing. Oh, how she is
growing. Tummy time, which used to involve us watching her rub her face
on the blanket, is now an exciting affair with a lifted head, flexing
arm muscles, so many coos and a decent puddle of drool. It's unreal
watching her learn new tricks. I had no idea it could be this good.

work related : I will be participating in the Queen Bee Market again this year. It's going to be the biggest one yet and will be hosted in Oceanside, CA the first weekend of November. If you're local… come! If your a local handmade vendor… apply! This is a fantastically well-organized market and always fun.

play related : I've got quilting craft plans for DAYS. Tuesday, I had a wild idea to spend
the next month developing a quilting e-course. Eight projects. All new
and all exciting. It's been awhile since I have wrote a class of my
own and I have never ventured out of the scrapbooking, blog-related world. So this is pretty different. I need to work out some details and
finish sketching some project ideas but I have a feeling my sewing
machine is going to get a work out in September. Plus an excuse to buy
gorgeous fabrics sounds amazing.

play related : My friend Melanie was in town this past week and we had such a good time doing nothing and talking about everything. I am so grateful for friends who want to just come and sit (and who are awesome enough to watch the baby while I go out for a much needed haircut). This evening we are off to meet a few other girlfriends for a quick trip. I'll be away from the baby for less than 24 hours, but it still feels like a very. Big. Deal. I'm excited to get away, but I am already excited to get back too.

    Quilts, and sewing anything worth keeping in general, is intimidating for me. It could be that I have to adapt my sewing machine in a way that works for me (I’m paralyzed so the foot pedal is really a right-hand pedal for me), and that is frustrating when my lines are wobbly. Ah, the perfectionist in me needs to sleep during those times. I adore your skill at it though. All your quilts are just amazing.

    A quilting course? 🙂 I inherited my Mother’s sewing machine, and all her quilting books after she passed away in April. She made amazing quilts but l never got around to asking her to teach me. Quilting and sewing general have never come easy to me…and with always having Mum around l was never motivated to learn. I would love to get her sewing machine out of the box, and make something.

    Thank you so much! And even with wobbly lines… quilts are pretty awesome. I heard a great tip about quilts once … “if you can’t see the error from 20 feet away on horseback, it’s not an error.” 😉

    You can sign me up for the quilting course too! It’s on my 28 before 28 list of goals, and it’s all your fault by showing me that someone who claims to have very little sewing skills can make beautiful quilts…I’m really hoping that that proves to be true!

    Yes on the quilting course. I don’t think I really even cared for quilts that much until I started watching you create them. They’re beautiful, modern and I now I want to make one of my very own.
    Also, LOVE the look of the floor pillows and fireplace without the grate- so open and pretty.
    OK, one more thing…Ellerie. SO SWEET.

    What an exciting post! I have never heard of the Queen Bee Market but now I am counting down the days, it sounds awesome! I also can’t wait for Project Life Lessons to start, I am hoping it will inspire me to actually use all of the PL “stuff” I have accumulated! And I would LOVE a quilting class! I took a sewing class last year for the sole purpose of wanting to make quilts, but still haven’t attempted one… the class will be geared towards beginners, right? 🙂

    ooooh, I’d so take that quilting class. Have been sewing for years, but quilts…they seem so HUGE. Every time I try one, I get frustrated by putting the top, middle and bottom together into that sandwich. I’d love to see how you do it! You have a good way of explaining things and I think you class would be a great stepping stone for beginners who are intimidated by very experienced people with what seem like rigid rules. Er, anyway, yes, class please!

    Looks like your quilting e-course will be taking off. I still love them all and the fabrics make the quilt. It’s funny because when you have a little baby and always attending to them it’s nice to get out for a bit by yourself but you feel as if you have left something behind and you find that your priorities change with family life and a baby so I understand when you say you want to be out but when you are out you look forward to being at home with your family.     Have loved your blog for years, but never commented… Love all that you do. Have a seven month old baby girl, and reading all your “Dear Ellerie” posts brings back so many memories from those first few months when I was just trying to stay afloat. Your posts often make me teary-eyed and send my heart into flutters, reminding me of those special times. Thank you for those.
    Anyway, before I got all nostalgic, my point of commenting was to say I am thrilled to hear you’re considering doing a quilting class. I’ve never signed up for a class before, but the prospect of this one makes me giddy! I know you’d be an amazing teacher. Your posts have already inspired me to “wing-it” on a few quilt. Would love to get more details on your process, and work on more Elise-inspired projects.

    Your daughter is absolutely adorable, and I love her name! 🙂 A quilting class sounds like fun, and I would definitely be interested in something like that. I have some quilt tops that I need to finish – put the bottoms on them…I’m really not sure what that’s called.
