Our new normal feels good.

I am waking up early when Paul gets up for work which means I have a few hours to myself before Ellerie stirs. I so appreciate the mornings and enjoy getting time for my coffee, breakfast, blog reading and email. I am now able to be completly present for her when she wakes up. I have no idea how long this schedule will last for us, but I'm celebrating it while we have it.

My parents are coming to visit this weekend. I used to look forward to their visits, but now that Ellerie is here, I feel like I count the minutes. Something about sharing your kiddo with your parents is magic, no? It's like bringing home a good grade on a test times 100. I'm excited for her to get time with them, my house to get some new shelves (new shelves = more space for plants) and Paul and I to get another dinner date. The long-term plan is to convince our families to move to San Diego. In the short-term, these weekend visits are blessings for everyone.

Have a good one.

Weekend visits with parents are awesome!! I envy you the quiet mornings. Everyone keeps telling me to squeeze in quiet time before the kids wake up. Unfortunately my kids wake up at 5:30 LOL

I thoroughly appreciate your love for plants. I’m newly married and my husband does not share my excitement for plants. If I had it my way I’d have them everywhere!

That baby is just delicious. She looks so content to be sharing that yoga mat with you. What love….
And yes, I’ve never been so happy to share something with my parents as I am to share my children. I’m pretty sure they think my 3 sweet babies hung the sun, the moon and the stars. It’s a unique and priceless gift.
    Enjoy your family weekend!!

Yes, sharing your favorite little person with your family is magic. I hope you are able to have all of your family in one place one day. We have been slowly working on that since we moved 6 years ago. We’re getting close 🙂
PS – Your house is AMAZING! I found your blog through one of your sweet letters to your daughter. When I saw pictures of your home, I added you to my reader as quickly as I could!

I was always close with my parents but having baby – everything is heightened – and i think its because you know they want to share in every moment and are just as entertained by every smile, laugh or new “milestone”
I thought my mom and I had adventures before going to target – going with a baby – a whole new level of excitement

Oh yes, seeing your parents with your baby and also connecting with your parents in that whole new way is amazing. Counting the days until my parents visit us at the end of September! Have a great weekend!

Enjoy! It wouldn’t take much convincing to get me to move to San Diego.

What happens if the grandparents move to San Diego and then Paul is posted at the end of his Residency? Are your parents/in-laws many miles away? My mum (my son’s only surviving grandparent) is 250 miles away and I regret that she has missed so many things.

Do your best to convince away! My parents are 4.5 hours from us and my brother is 2000km’s away in Melbourne (we are in Aus) It is hard for my parents having two children live so far apart and they don’t get so much time with their grand kids. We live in a small town and as my parents are now elderly I know it’s not realistic for them to move here and it’s so hard being away from them knowing that harder years are headed our way health and age wise. The thought that does make me happy is I’ve been lucky to have them so long (they are into their late 70’s) so go for it and do your best to convince them! 🙂

I know what you mean, my son is 22 and I still feel the same when my Dad visits us in Mexico from Oregon. Moms never get tired of showing their children off. I hope you have a great visit. Oh and Ellerie is the sweetest thing. I also love her little tear birthmark!

I feel the same way – wish we could talk our family into moving to Oregon! I miss having family close by.
I love the chairs in your dining area. Would you mind sharing where you got them?
And Ellerie is the cutest! Enjoy every minute – seems like my son was that little just yesterday and now he’s off to college!
