It's week thirty-one and I love this project.

Week of : July 29 – August 5.

What happened this week? We were home. Paul worked. I worked. Ellerie grew. We hit the magic six week mark and so life felt excellent.

Anything special in the spread? I used Cathy Zielske's 3×4 instagram card download this week. Love how simple it is. I sometimes struggle to include square format photos because (to me) they can look messy in a 4×6 pocket. I'm loving the look of them here though – so clean! I'll be using this download again and again when I want the square instagram crop.

Techniques this week : The usual…writing on photos to include details and stories.

Overall thoughts : I can really tell my balance is back looking at this layout. Food photos? Camer time self-portraits? This is pre-baby Elise with a little baby mixed in.

Ratio of iPhone photos to "real camera" photos : 9 to 4.

Ratio of photos taken by Elise to photos taken by Paul : 9 to 1. (I used the TimerCam app and timer on my big camera to capture the photos of me.)

Supplies used : Seafoam core kit, Cathy Zielske Instagram photo cards, Paislee Press calendar card, Kelly Purkey letter stickers, Elise Joy stamps, Martha Stewart for Avery labels.

Tools used : Design A pocket pages, Fiskars corner rounder, Zig Millenium pen, Rotatrim paper trimmer, Office Depot date stamp, staz-on ink. All photos were printed at home on my HP Photosmart 2575 printer on Office Depot semi-gloss photo paper.

Project Life is a memory-keeping system created by Becky Higgins. I use photos, text and stuff to document our life weekly. You can see all the posts from 2012 here and 2013 here. Do you have a question about how I am tackling this project (including anything about the photos)? Check here.

Thank you for the Cathy Z tip. So helpful and fun.
Also, I like all the Elise’s – pre-baby, pregnant, newbie mom, and now post-baby. I don’t think you can – nor want to – go back to being something you were in the past. You have such a gift at embracing motion and moving forward AND making it all fit.
Uber-inspiring – happy Sunday – Enjoy it with Paul and Baby E.

Elise, you have the best readers, I could not agree with this more. All of the Elise’s have been a joy to see and read about; you make them all look good!
I feel the same way about including 4×4 (or any size insta squares) on my PL layouts: no matter how I try to incorporate them they always looks a bit strange/cluttered to me. Thanks for sharing that insight into why you have chosen mostly 4×6 for your photos until now. I’ll have to try the Cathy Z. printouts and see if I can make those work. Yours look amazing as always. The black and white of you and Ellerie is the best.

Hi Elise! I look forward every week to your PL posts. I’m fairly new, so I don’t know if I just can’t find it or if it doesn’t exist, but have you done a post on how you organize your PL items? I gave up my office/craft room to make a playroom for my two little ones and am now trying to figure out ways to organize my crafting supplies (in particular the items I use for PL).
Thanks for sharing with all of us not only your Pl, but your family/life as well.

What an awesome layout! I love how you’ve fit everything in! I know what you mean about the square photos though… I use them every so often on my spreads and they never quite look right. The best way I’ve used them is 3 2×2 photos running along the 4×6 card, with text below. I love the mix of photos too… Cutie Ellerie (especially her smile in the last one!), you and Paul with her, food, projects, coffee dates… So much goodness!

Love your PL spreads and everything else on this blog of yours – I love seeing a new post from you come up in my feed!
I attempted to ask this question on an earlier blog post about a week ago but then my internet connection cut out so I’ll try again!
The photos of you and Ellerie – do you always use the timer to capture them? Do you “pose” for them then and just wait for the timer? They always seem so real. There was one a week or so ago of you and Ellerie on the bed together – didn’t seem posed at all!

Thanks for sharing your PL layouts again Elise, l find them really inspiring. I’ve put my PL album to one side whilst l get stuck into Ali Edward’s Hello Story class. Like it or not, there is just not enough hours in the day to do it all ! But l’ve been taking photos and documenting our days, so l can go back and get those layouts done.
Love the little snippets of your life that you share. It’s certainly been a big year!

I always enjoy seeing your PL layouts. The balance of Ellerie, food, and self timed shots is great. I also reflects the natural balance that comes to a family when the baby is about 6 weeks old. Before that, it’s all about baby. After that, it’s more about life as a family. Well done for capturing that progression so well in your pages this week!

I have not really done a full post on it.. but I talk a bit about it in last weeks PCR. (http://www.paperclipping.com/prt170-more-project-life/) for the most part, I keep all the cards in a box in a drawer and flip through them to find what works. 🙂 hope that helps!

They are sort of posed because I know they are being taken (by the self-timer). But I don’t look at the camera and of course I have no idea what she’ll do. 😉

I just love seeing your pages. Thanks for the inspiration. I have to tell you that you inspired me to finally bust out the pens and journal on my photos. I just finished a snap book from a trip to NYC and I just love to have my handwriting on my photos. Thanks for helping me take the plunge! I love it. Glad to have you back here regularly. 🙂
