So glad you’re back! Your posts inspire me! My little one is just 9 days younger than Ellerie, and I love making connections between the little ones and what you’re going through on this motherhood journey! I hope you don’t mind, but I copycatted {is that a word?) your Dear Ellerie idea and have begun writing letters to my little man as well. You can see them here: http://www.ankneyadventure.blogspot.com
Thanks again for sharing, look forward to my daily reading!

I love the photo of you and Ellerie. The pink and black are so great together. Great list, too 🙂 I’m so impressed that you’re teaching a class already. (Kinda like I was impressed by all your pizza-making.)

Glad you didn’t let anyone bring you down. Your posts are inspiring and I love reading about you and your beautiful daughter. Everything you have experienced I think every woman has gone through. Wonderful you can share so we know we aren’t alone. So many of us struggle in silence. We as woman need to support each other more and stop judging. Glad you didn’t let others discourage you. You truly are fabulous and I can’t wait for you to post. My new direction with raising my 20 month old son is to listen to myself and not others. We were currently on a little road trip and I have a little leash that I put on my little guy so he can run and I can keep a hold of him. The looks and comments we got were just crazy. But what was more crazy was I never asked for anyone’s opinion. So I decided to block it all out and just focus on us. It felt wonderful. And I will continue doing what I want.

Elise, where do you get your maxi skirts? My most favorite one of all time (from Target) was recently ruined by an escalator (long, embarrassing story!) and I haven’t been able to find one I like as much since. Would love to know what you recommend.
    Thanks for your wonderful blog!

I really liked the happiness article mentioned in your post. Thank you! I’ve read a bunch of stuff on happiness, but two parts of this particular article were unique and really struck me:
“Happy, flourishing people don’t hide from negative emotions. They acknowledge that life is full of disappointments and confront them head on…”
So true! Like Brene Brown says, we can’t selectively numb emotions. So if we want to experience joy and happiness fully, we have to be open to the negative emotions too (while not wallowing in them).
“The good life is best construed as a matrix that includes happiness, occasional sadness, a sense of purpose, playfulness, and psychological flexibility, as well autonomy, mastery, and belonging.” Lovely!

Ak! Sherlock! I have never seen a better television program in my life. I can’t WAIT for the next season…but the waiting makes it even better!
also, when I was reading your comments at the end of the week 6 dear ellerie, the first thing I thought was, “but…it’s YOUR blog! no one elses! no one can dictate your approach but you” also, your genuine real-ness and openness are what I love about this space. Very few blogs have a real voice like yours. it takes braverey to put your true self out there…or out anywhere! well done.

I also have been living in maxi skirts this summer. h&m have great ones! My husband and I are huge Seinfield fans….CANT GET ENOUGH:) Have you watched his new show Comedians in cars getting coffee? There’s a Facebook fan page, or you can watch it on Crackle. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I loved what you wrote (totally inspired to write an August list of my own), but really I’m swooning over the adorably dangling baby legs. If baby legs and feet aren’t the cutest thing in the world, than I don’t know what is. And they’re long too!
