This week marked The End of my alone time.

My mom comes tonight and she'll be here until Paul gets home for leave. And then when Paul's gone again, my mom will come back to help with the baby. And of course… very soon there will be the baby. My new sidekick will make sure alone time is scarce.

It was a quiet last week. I went to Bar Method. Cooked simple meals. Met a friend for dinner. Walked. Played too much Candy Crush on my iPad. Read a bit. Laid on the floor of the bedroom in front of a fan. Got a pedicure and the last of my prenatal massages. Went to bed early. Woke up early. Drank coffee. Chilled.

My last few years have been filled with long pockets of alone time. I can say with certainty that that I have very much enjoyed them, but I am ready for this next adventure and welcome the change.

p.s. I am stuck on level 35 in Candy Crush, and play it way too much.

You will never be alone again once baby girl arrives – and you will forever wear your heart on the outside of your body 🙂 – for reals! Soak it up and revel in it because (I’m sure you’ve heard it before) it flies – my baby girl will be 17 in August and I can’t believe we are closer to college than any other milestone. This is a new chapter and an amazing journey you are about to embark on – can’t wait to ‘meet’ your sweet angel 🙂 You are an amazing woman!

I’ve got two little ones and a hubby that works from home a lot… is it okay to say that I’ve, at times, been a little jealous of your alone time? Ha ha!
But babies and family are so worth it! I get a lot of inspiration from the creativity on your blog, so I’m excited to see how your style evolves as you join the momma club!

Are prenatal massages something you are supposed to get or just something that helps and feels good?

In my humble opinion you are approaching this time in exactly the tight fashion. As you say big changes are on the way and making the most of this time should be about doing ……..well not much! enjoy

I was thinking that Paul leaving again so soon was going to be hard enough, even without a newborn to take care of so I’m really happy that you’ll have your mum there for support, help and comfort.
Big changes, big happy changes, alone time will become a distant longed-for memory 🙂 – I’m so excited for you both!

Where did you go for your prenatal massages? Did they happen to have the hole in the table? I’m in the SD area and 27 weeks pregnant trying to find a great place.

I can echo what someone said above… with three little ones and homeschooling, alone time is such a rarity for me, I crave it like nothing else these days! It can really be a blessing to the soul to be alone. Of course company is wonderful too and you’re about to have the very best kind. 🙂

I’ve used Equilibrio Massage in Banker’s Hill (on 3rd Ave) for for my last 2 pregnancies, and am currently using them for my 4th-I’m 30 weeks. I drive down from North County to use them. They do a GREAT job. I have terrible back and hip pain with my pregnancies, my first pregnancy was miserable, my 2nd pregnancy started out with the same pain, and then a friend suggested I go to Equilibrio and after 2 visits my pain was reduced by probably 75%. This will be my last pregnancy, as I’m having twins, and will have a total of 5 kiddos, but I will likely use them for postnatal massages.

easier said than done, but appreciate this time. you will never get it back. the best is yet to come, but once it is here, things will change forever. what you are about to experience is the most life changing thing you will ever know. the things you thought matter, will become meaningless. the things you you didn’t know, will become the most important things you ever knew. being a parent is the best thing to ever experience.

Paul will be there soon! How exciting … and nary a labor pain yet??? Glad you have had this alone time to soak up… one baby usually still gives you alone time but soon there are brothers and/or sisters and then you don’t even think about being alone! lol Enjoy it! You are blessed and you are brave! Kathi

Elise, I have been following your blog for several months. You are such a ray of sunshine and have given me such inspiration for DIY projects around my new place. I am getting married this August and have appreciated your encouraging spirit and ideas. I know you will be blessed in the weeks to come by your family, little “E,” and having your husband home.
Also, as a fellow plant enthusiast, I was wondering what kind of plant is that in the third picture? I would love to have something with such geometric leaves.
Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine! 🙂

As much as I know you’re looking forward to your lack of alone time, I hope you also carry the value and comfort of your alone time into your new version of life. Every mom among my close circle of friends has talked and talked about how much those solo moments mean…even if just a small reprieve before they jump back in to the family life they love so much. =)

I know you’ve said before but when did you book Paul’s return with regards to your edd??
And as someone else said, I envy alone, I have three kids (including my 9 month old) and honest to goodness I can’t even remember being alone since my youngest was born.
