Babygirl

Welcome to the nursery.

Babytourpoms

How fun to put this room together. I never thought I'd embrace the pink, but obviously, I went there. It was too fun NOT to. I mentioned this in the pom-pom post, but the "theme" of her room is "hooray! We love you." (The theme of all the other rooms in our house is "hooray! We love plants.")

This is a decent sized room which hopefully means it has plenty of space to grow with her (and the toys and stuff she'll accumulate). So awesome for that. I have shared links throughout this post but as a first time mom, all of these things are just what I hope works for us. I can't even begin to recommend them because I have no idea what will actually work or what the baby will like or what I will think after we start using everything. You kind of have to just dive in and tread water in the beginning so that's what I am planning to do.

Baby girl will be sleeping in our room in a Dream Home baby cot for the first little while. We went with this bassinet because it looked good and the reviews were good. I also like that it's easily portable (we'll travel with it when we go up to Sacramento, etc.).

Babytour4

The crib is by babyletto and choosen because it's gorgeous and again, the reviews were good. The crib sheet is by giggle. We bought this matress & matress cover.
The rug was found at Home Goods. The curtains and curtain rods are Ikea. The gray poof was handmade by my friend Robyn. The knitted blanket was made my me as soon as we knew we were expecting a baby.

Babytourdresser

The dresser I've talked about endlessly. We are using it as a changing
table (the top drawer holds diapers) and storage for socks, onesies, pjs and tiny striped pants. Her hamper in the closet is from West Elm. This is the changing pad and changing pad cover. We are cloth diapering, but since I have yet to actually do it, I can't share any thoughts on that.

Babytourchair

The floor lamp is from Urban Outfitters and the rocking chair has been in Paul's family for ages. I recovered it at the beginning of the year. I made the triangle quilt as soon as I knew she was a girl. The basket is from Home Goods and currently has nothing in it. (I figure blankets, toys, etc. will end up filling it up.) Fun fact, all of the baskets are empty and so is that other side of the closet. Hooray for extra storage.

Babytour

The bookshelf is from Ikea and 90% of the books on it are from when I was a little girl. My mom is rad and saved all of them so my baby has quite a collection already. The baskets on the shelf are from Target.

Babytourart2

The art is an assortment of things I loved and has been shared on the blog before. But just in case, the pengiun print is by Kal Bartestki, the See The World is by December Baby and the giraffe print is from Paper Nut. The small frames (above the dreser) are Ikea and big frames are
Aaron Brothers.

Babytoys2

All the toys were purchased because I think they are beautiful. Hardly a reason to buy toys, but really, in this case I went for quality over quantity which is especially fun to do before the baby comes.

Babytourtoys

Most were found on amazon (play gym, rainbow stacker, car, rainbow object), but that montessori rattle came from etsy and I'm pretty sure that the pink and black ball was handmade (it was a shower gift).

Babytourart

That chalkboard looking art was a free download from Caravan Shoppe. I'm obsessed. I had it printed through Office Depot at 24×36 inches and I slipped it into a black frame I had on hand (purchased at a craft store, I think).

Babytour2

I painted the flamingo and the "you are so loved" art. (It says her name up above but we are waiting to share that until after she's here.) You probably caught the two "E's" in the room already. Yep, she's going to be an "E" like her mama. I love her name and can't wait to try it out on her after delivery. I've never met anyone with this name before so that's sort of magic.

Babytoure

And that's the room. My little girl will live, sleep, play and grow here. OH MAN, I AM SO EXCITED.

many of the photos in this post were taken by my friend Ann-Marie Morris. Thank you so much, Ann-Marie, for capturing the space for me!

It’s lovely, Elise. You’re so lucky to have a room to decorate for her! We’re still heavily remodeling and currently our baby girl’s room has all 1,800 square feet of new hardwood flooring in it. You can’t even walk into the room! Ah well, I still have 6 weeks, right?
All our baby’s toys came from etsy, too. People loved buying them for our baby shower. As a former nanny, I promise you that she’ll be playing with them before you know it so it’s not silly to have some already.

I started following your blog earlier this year (I started project life and bought the Seafoam edition!) and I have to say this is, by far, my favorite nursery I’ve seen online. So many nurseries are overly cutesie and cliche. I love that this nursery is basically the child version of your house. It looks like it belongs in your house and not like it’s in its own little world as some nurseries do. Can’t wait to hear the name!

Love all the care and planning you put into your baby girls room… her safe place as she grows 🙂 Such a nice room and a GREAT tour 🙂 Congrats on having a name and painting on the wall before she is born… looking forward to that magical time when you use her name looking at her for the first time… hopefully with Paul right there with you! Thanks for sharing today! Kathi

Elise, your little girl’s room is gorgeous! I am starting to plan my little man’s room – he is due in October. Are you pleased with the quality of the babyletto crib? I love the simplicity of their cribs!
    Thanks!

Such a beautiful room, I’m sure she will love it! We have a baby E with an uncommon name too – although our Edith is almost 2 now (how does time to so quickly?!) We didn’t share the name with any of our kids, I thought it was fun to leave a little something as a surprise 🙂

E’s are SUPER common. a lot of vowel names these days. was hard to find a name that wasn’t popular. but the E was important to me. 🙂

I can’t speak, of course, to how it will hold up with a little one, but I am very happy with the construction and how it looks. We had to put it together but it was super simple and fit together like a dream.

I just had my little girl 5 weeks ago and gave her an “e” name as well that I don’t think is very common. Can’t wait to hear what your princess is named.

Looks wonderful and I know why you would be so excited. I had 2 babies and they go through lots of nappies and I know you are going down the cloth nappy path which i admire but I could never imagine because of all the extra work to be done. Give yourself the option of even night time disposable nappies down the track because as a new mum who won’t be getting a good night sleep give yourself the option if you need a little break. You know and you are told that you won’t get a good nights sleep and you think you know what that will feel like however night after night the lack of sleep does make you extremely exhausted. Don’t rule it out on occasion even if you use the 80/20 rule. I can’t wait for your little “e” girl to arrive you will be smitten. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

E names rock … obviously! Our 17YO baby is Eloyse. She’d rather be Eloise! I haven’t seen so many of the names already mentioned. Love them all.
I am envying you Elise. Sure it’s tough but a new baby is pure magic. I know you’ll enjoy.

I check/read your blog every morning when I get to work! It’s my favorite part of the morning, but I never take the time to comment. 😦 I had to share that when I was reading through my usual things yesterday my FIRST thought when I saw that Channing Tatum and his wife named their baby Everly was, “Oh! an “e” name!” haha 🙂

I love how pretty AND practical this space is! I still have not really decorated any of our bedrooms after 6 years, partly because I don’t trust myself and don’t want to commit. I always admire people who can put a complete room together!

Her room is so pretty. This post took me back in time 29 years to when I was nesting for my first child. What a wonderful, magical time! It’s great that you already get that all babies are different and it’s about what works for your baby and your family. I remember when I brought my son home that most of the mobiles at that time looked cute to everyone in the room except the baby laying on his back looking up. I made one for him. So excited for you.

Such a beautiful space. It really radiates with love. One piece of unsolicited feedback: I really recommend black out blinds behind your beautiful curtains. Baby E will be napping at crazy hours, you’ll want to be make to make it dark & cool for her.
Wishing you the very best on this adventure!
