Babygirl

Welcome to the nursery.

Babytourpoms

How fun to put this room together. I never thought I'd embrace the pink, but obviously, I went there. It was too fun NOT to. I mentioned this in the pom-pom post, but the "theme" of her room is "hooray! We love you." (The theme of all the other rooms in our house is "hooray! We love plants.")

This is a decent sized room which hopefully means it has plenty of space to grow with her (and the toys and stuff she'll accumulate). So awesome for that. I have shared links throughout this post but as a first time mom, all of these things are just what I hope works for us. I can't even begin to recommend them because I have no idea what will actually work or what the baby will like or what I will think after we start using everything. You kind of have to just dive in and tread water in the beginning so that's what I am planning to do.

Baby girl will be sleeping in our room in a Dream Home baby cot for the first little while. We went with this bassinet because it looked good and the reviews were good. I also like that it's easily portable (we'll travel with it when we go up to Sacramento, etc.).

Babytour4

The crib is by babyletto and choosen because it's gorgeous and again, the reviews were good. The crib sheet is by giggle. We bought this matress & matress cover.
The rug was found at Home Goods. The curtains and curtain rods are Ikea. The gray poof was handmade by my friend Robyn. The knitted blanket was made my me as soon as we knew we were expecting a baby.

Babytourdresser

The dresser I've talked about endlessly. We are using it as a changing
table (the top drawer holds diapers) and storage for socks, onesies, pjs and tiny striped pants. Her hamper in the closet is from West Elm. This is the changing pad and changing pad cover. We are cloth diapering, but since I have yet to actually do it, I can't share any thoughts on that.

Babytourchair

The floor lamp is from Urban Outfitters and the rocking chair has been in Paul's family for ages. I recovered it at the beginning of the year. I made the triangle quilt as soon as I knew she was a girl. The basket is from Home Goods and currently has nothing in it. (I figure blankets, toys, etc. will end up filling it up.) Fun fact, all of the baskets are empty and so is that other side of the closet. Hooray for extra storage.

Babytour

The bookshelf is from Ikea and 90% of the books on it are from when I was a little girl. My mom is rad and saved all of them so my baby has quite a collection already. The baskets on the shelf are from Target.

Babytourart2

The art is an assortment of things I loved and has been shared on the blog before. But just in case, the pengiun print is by Kal Bartestki, the See The World is by December Baby and the giraffe print is from Paper Nut. The small frames (above the dreser) are Ikea and big frames are
Aaron Brothers.

Babytoys2

All the toys were purchased because I think they are beautiful. Hardly a reason to buy toys, but really, in this case I went for quality over quantity which is especially fun to do before the baby comes.

Babytourtoys

Most were found on amazon (play gym, rainbow stacker, car, rainbow object), but that montessori rattle came from etsy and I'm pretty sure that the pink and black ball was handmade (it was a shower gift).

Babytourart

That chalkboard looking art was a free download from Caravan Shoppe. I'm obsessed. I had it printed through Office Depot at 24×36 inches and I slipped it into a black frame I had on hand (purchased at a craft store, I think).

Babytour2

I painted the flamingo and the "you are so loved" art. (It says her name up above but we are waiting to share that until after she's here.) You probably caught the two "E's" in the room already. Yep, she's going to be an "E" like her mama. I love her name and can't wait to try it out on her after delivery. I've never met anyone with this name before so that's sort of magic.

Babytoure

And that's the room. My little girl will live, sleep, play and grow here. OH MAN, I AM SO EXCITED.

many of the photos in this post were taken by my friend Ann-Marie Morris. Thank you so much, Ann-Marie, for capturing the space for me!

I cannot believe how much love this room radiates. So much attention to detail, everything well thought out and chosen with love. What a wonderful place to start a life 🙂 I think you did good. Very very good.
Also I laughed so hard at the “hooray we love plants” part.
    Beautiful.

So of course now I’m trying to guess which short/unusual name beginning with an E you might have picked. Erin seems too common. Elsa? Emma? (Yes, I have too much time on my hands today :-P)

GORGEOUS room!! I love how cute it is without being a traditionally “baby” room. You’ve got such great style and a great eye for putting things together I’d never think to. I smiled when I saw that you already have a boat load of books stocked on Baby Girl’s shelf, and when I read that 90% of them are from your childhood I let out a “no way, so cool!”
I see you and your family creating a lot of memories and enjoying a lot of time in this space.
    Just…beautiful.

Glad to see a poof is making its way around the new home as well! Here’s hoping little lady will love tackling it and sitting on it while she reads books and using it as a stool to climb up to things and for so much more!

Also I’m so happy you’re going to share your baby’s name when she’s here – you just know everyone is racking their brains now trying to think of unusual E names!

It is all so lovely and so you!
But I am a little incredulous you don’t have this rad stackable wooden toy cactus PLANT! That photo really doesn’t do it justice. It’s totally gorgeous and cute and bigger than it appears. If I was buying you a baby gift, that would be it. 🙂

This is so beautiful, great job! Little E will love it. My daughters name is Enolah, another great, uncommon E name. Can’t wait to hear what you’ve chosen! We also cloth diapered both our children. My son has actually never been in a disposable. It’s very doable & easy. Bumgenius are fabulous diapers too!! Good luck 🙂

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this room. You did an amazing job, Elise! Love that you said the theme is “you are loved,” and I think this totally radiates that theme. I love that nothing is overpowering, it just feels soft and eclectically cohesive and rad.
Good luck with cloth! I did the whole cloth diapering thing with my son, and it saved us A TON of money. Loved it. Now the whole potty training thing is happening, so that is a totally different adventure.
Can’t wait to find out her “e” name. My daughter is Eliza, so I’m partial to the not-so-often-heard “e”s.

This room is beautiful! And it feels like you even though I’ve never met you! I have an almost two year old little girl and your pregnancy has often brought back familiar emotions when preparing for her arrival. A few things to share: we also have a pouf in baby girl’s room which she LOVES to jump on now, but it began as a place to pull herself up, snuggle, play – she has loved it her whole life! I hope you have more than one changing pad cover (things happen even with girls!) 🙂 and have you thought about a small side table for the rocker where you’re going to nurse? You’ll be surprised how much you might need it! Water, chapstick, kleenex, burp cloths, etc…Best of wishes to you and P and little E!

I love the nursery. It looks similar in a way to my daughter’s another E name…”Eleanor.” I wanted something that was cool enough for her to grow into. My Mom kept all my books too so it was awesome to see the shelf full! Love all your art and how personal it is. So excited for you and baby E!

Glad you hear your daughter likes her poof! I actually don’t imagine nursing in that rocker… it’s comfy for reading stories later on, but not for extending nursing periods. I would need a table or something in there for sure though! I’ll have to think about that if we end up sitting there longer…

Aah such a cute room! I love how you buy wooden toys instead of all those plastic things you see these days. I’m not sure why, but I think that is really you! You should check out this website: http://www.nido-montessori.fr and especially http://www.nido-montessori.fr/Les-debuts-de-la-vie You might like it 🙂 I though it was inspiring!

What a beautiful nursery! It looks so clean, peaceful and happy. You’ve achieved a good balance of colors, it’s impossible not to have pink in a baby girl’s nursery. My my little girl too, at first I didn’t want pink, then I added some pink details and loved it. Thanks for sharing this beautiful space! Hope your family have beautiful moments in this room.
