Babygirl

Welcome to the nursery.

Babytourpoms

How fun to put this room together. I never thought I'd embrace the pink, but obviously, I went there. It was too fun NOT to. I mentioned this in the pom-pom post, but the "theme" of her room is "hooray! We love you." (The theme of all the other rooms in our house is "hooray! We love plants.")

This is a decent sized room which hopefully means it has plenty of space to grow with her (and the toys and stuff she'll accumulate). So awesome for that. I have shared links throughout this post but as a first time mom, all of these things are just what I hope works for us. I can't even begin to recommend them because I have no idea what will actually work or what the baby will like or what I will think after we start using everything. You kind of have to just dive in and tread water in the beginning so that's what I am planning to do.

Baby girl will be sleeping in our room in a Dream Home baby cot for the first little while. We went with this bassinet because it looked good and the reviews were good. I also like that it's easily portable (we'll travel with it when we go up to Sacramento, etc.).

Babytour4

The crib is by babyletto and choosen because it's gorgeous and again, the reviews were good. The crib sheet is by giggle. We bought this matress & matress cover.
The rug was found at Home Goods. The curtains and curtain rods are Ikea. The gray poof was handmade by my friend Robyn. The knitted blanket was made my me as soon as we knew we were expecting a baby.

Babytourdresser

The dresser I've talked about endlessly. We are using it as a changing
table (the top drawer holds diapers) and storage for socks, onesies, pjs and tiny striped pants. Her hamper in the closet is from West Elm. This is the changing pad and changing pad cover. We are cloth diapering, but since I have yet to actually do it, I can't share any thoughts on that.

Babytourchair

The floor lamp is from Urban Outfitters and the rocking chair has been in Paul's family for ages. I recovered it at the beginning of the year. I made the triangle quilt as soon as I knew she was a girl. The basket is from Home Goods and currently has nothing in it. (I figure blankets, toys, etc. will end up filling it up.) Fun fact, all of the baskets are empty and so is that other side of the closet. Hooray for extra storage.

Babytour

The bookshelf is from Ikea and 90% of the books on it are from when I was a little girl. My mom is rad and saved all of them so my baby has quite a collection already. The baskets on the shelf are from Target.

Babytourart2

The art is an assortment of things I loved and has been shared on the blog before. But just in case, the pengiun print is by Kal Bartestki, the See The World is by December Baby and the giraffe print is from Paper Nut. The small frames (above the dreser) are Ikea and big frames are
Aaron Brothers.

Babytoys2

All the toys were purchased because I think they are beautiful. Hardly a reason to buy toys, but really, in this case I went for quality over quantity which is especially fun to do before the baby comes.

Babytourtoys

Most were found on amazon (play gym, rainbow stacker, car, rainbow object), but that montessori rattle came from etsy and I'm pretty sure that the pink and black ball was handmade (it was a shower gift).

Babytourart

That chalkboard looking art was a free download from Caravan Shoppe. I'm obsessed. I had it printed through Office Depot at 24×36 inches and I slipped it into a black frame I had on hand (purchased at a craft store, I think).

Babytour2

I painted the flamingo and the "you are so loved" art. (It says her name up above but we are waiting to share that until after she's here.) You probably caught the two "E's" in the room already. Yep, she's going to be an "E" like her mama. I love her name and can't wait to try it out on her after delivery. I've never met anyone with this name before so that's sort of magic.

Babytoure

And that's the room. My little girl will live, sleep, play and grow here. OH MAN, I AM SO EXCITED.

many of the photos in this post were taken by my friend Ann-Marie Morris. Thank you so much, Ann-Marie, for capturing the space for me!

Your room is gorgeous! I have the same crib in grey and I love it, it was my compromise on the Oeuf Sparrow crib, which is way more expensive and you have to buy the convertible rail separate! You’ll love the BumGenius diapers, I have those same colors plus Buttercup and Mirror. So far we’ve been using them for 9 months and they’re great! We even used them from day 1 with the help of the BumGenius Diaper Doublers/Newborn Inserts. Our daughter was only 6 lbs so they helped the diapers fit better (though they did look huge on her!), plus it was easier to clean a liner than the whole diaper when you’re dealing with that sticky poo! 🙂 Good luck and can’t wait to read all about it.

Lovely room ~ one that can mature right along with baby E. So fun for me to be a bystander observer to your impending joy, as my own “baby M” is now 22. But the great themes never change, so I recall the delight preparing the nest brought me. And yup, I’ve saved all her most treasured books for “grandbaby M” whenever that day arrives.
Also, when she was born I got a cute floral arrangement in a ceramic baby carriage. My OBGyn suggested saving the vase to give my daughter on the day her own child is born. That vase has now made six moves with me, waiting for the day I can give it to her. You might want to consider saving a treasured vase or similar gift you get for her birth, to do likewise.
You are one prepared “Mama E!”

I love these little name conversations. My guess is Elodie. I love French names, and I actually met an Elodie when my husband and I traveled in France. She was a super-cool French girl. I can’t wait to see what name you picked. I love your taste, so I’m sure I’ll love it!
Somewhat unrelated … But where did you get that cute letter for your door? Did you make it? If so, please post a tutorial soon!

Yes, the baby ball is homemade! I have been making them for decades from a pattern I got from a magazine (Family Circle, maybe?) when I was a teenager. I picked the colors based on what I saw on your blog of what you would like … I knew black and white would fit in and tried to find a salmon color that would match the quilt you made for Baby E.
Hugs to you and P and Baby E!

SUCH a wonderful space for your little E to grow up in!!
Huge fan of cloth in this house. I love my BG 4.0’s too, big workhouse around here (for about a year now, still going strong on my 15m old boy!).
I have loved following your pregnancy journey, and look forward to the new book (it’s not just a chapter of life, it’s a whole new book!) you’re about to start on motherhood!

Elise, you may find that you’ll need that top drawer (or another table or stand next to the changing table) to hold baby wipes, diaper cream, baby powder. Once you’ve got a wiggly baby on the changing table you won’t want to step away and it’s helpful to have that stuff right at hand when things get messy! Just a thought. 🙂 ~ Laura

I have loved your blog for a long time now (years!) but it is especially amazing lately…
so much so that I save it for my last read and then leave it up (almost like a screen saver) to inspire me while I go about my day.
Thank you… seriously, a beautiful blog and a beautiful life that you are welcoming your baby girl into.

I am so excited for you!! the room looks so adorable, you have put so many lovely details and pretty personal touches. You have made me re-live my adventures in decorating baby Eliza’s room (another baby E), she will be five months in four days and her room is my favorite part of the house.
We use cloth diapers (but the gdiaper label) and love them, and I am sure that you’ll soon want to also start with the cloth wipes since they are very easy to make and you’ll be doing daily laundry anyway; I got plenty of receiving blankets as gifts but Eliza never liked to be swaddled, so since they were new I converted them into cloth wipes.
Congrats on selecting Wood toys, they are the best, I am curious to know what baby products you plan on using.
Congratulations on your new adventure as a mom, enjoy every little moment because I know you have heard this a million times, but they do grow very fast, so take in that newborn smell and the way she will fit perfectly over your shoulder after a feeding and comfortably fall asleep, and the cute little noises she will make, memorize everything because photos and videos do not capture that, oh my now I am getting teary 🙂
Sending you lots of good wishes

Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! May she be blessed with good health and happiness forever!
When you were decorating your room and getting ready for Ellerie, we had just moved apartments and decorating our kids’ room. This post went live very close to the day we were done with ours. But I got around to blogging about it only today. I have made tissue flowers like you and also pinned many similar ideas. I would love to have you over my blog and have a look at ours’ when you have the time.
    Thank you in advance.
    Love to E

    Hi Elise,
I’m curious how you’re finding cloth diapering now that you’ve had a few weeks with Ellerie. Are you enjoying it? What brand did you go with? Thanks!

Now that you’ve lived with this gorgeous nursery for a while I have a question.. Is the Babyletto Hudson really low? I am crib searching and love that one, but my mom pointed out how low the legs are to the ground.. do you find an issue with that?
