Summer books and a few new stamps are now listed in the shop! Get them now if you're interested. I will be closing shop at the end of May for my maternity leave. Not sure yet when things will re-open, but my guess is mid-August.

Rough start this week, but solid finish. We finally bought a dining table. We've been debating pros and cons about this purchase for over two months. We were settled on one, and then at the last second, went with something completely different. This was the last BIG purchase (except dining chairs!) that I was hoping to make before the baby arrived. Once it gets here, and a few final adjustments are made, I think I'll call the decorating suspended while we soak up every second of summer and the newborn phase. (Summer and a newborn baby!?! My two favorite things combined!) Looking forward to sharing the big picture of how this house has shaped up at the end of the month. Spoiler alert : I love where it's headed.

I am off to a wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona this weekend. My last pre-baby adventure. A solo babymoon, if you will. I'm going to be a 34.5 week pregnant bridesmaid and thanks to an alterations miracle, my dress fits. So looking forward to seeing my college girlfriends and soaking up some sunshine.

Have a great weekend.

Elise, did you make your own loom (or whatever it’s called) to do those woven wall hangings? I can’t recall a post on how that began. My 11yo son did a tiny weaving project in his art class and is begging for a loom so he can make more. Any tips would be mucho appreciated. 🙂
    Have fun and travel safely!

Hi Melissa, we made a weaving project at school when I was little, and what we did was cut evently spaced slits down the short sides of a shoebox and threaded the supporting thread backwards and forwards through them. Not the sturdiest solution, but pretty cheap and easy 🙂

I did! Out of wood and nails. Here is a post that I wrote about a similar project. http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2013/02/a-woven-wall-hanging.html
In it, I link to a great tutorial from Rachel Denbow. 🙂

My first baby is an end-of-May baby, and it is lovely to have a newborn in the summer : ) She will be 11 this month. Sniff. I was also in a wedding at 7.5 months pregnant but it was a fall wedding with beautiful fall colors, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I resembled a giant pumpkin. Ha.

I love that coral and black/white baby toy thingamabob… Did you make it? If not, do you mind sharing where that is from?
I went to my brother’s wedding at 38 weeks summer before last – on an island, accessible by a bumpy 30 minute water taxi ride. In hindsight, perhaps not the wisest plan… But I love looking at the photos now. You’ll be a gorgeous bridesmaid!

Ordered some stamps yesterday 🙂 So glad you’re getting the house finished up (for now!) What a relief that must be. We’ve lived in ours for 3 years and it’s still not even close to where we want it. We’ll get there though. Have a great time at the wedding!

I will talk more about this as it gets closer… But I will blog on occasion, not with the normal scheduled 5am posts. I will not be having guest bloggers or recycling old posts. Looking forward to a re-energizing break! My first in years. 🙂

I got it at my baby shower. There was no tag, so I think the gift giver made it. It’s my favorite thing we have for the little lady.

Enjoy your trip! I’m going to be a bridesmaid in two weddings this September at 36 & 38 weeks pregnant–I have no idea what size dress to order, so hopefully I can get lucky with a couple of alteration miracles too!

Oh, this new mini-album you have in your store looks beautiful! The colors and patterns are just delightful.
I wasn’t planning on doing a lot of spending this month…but if I can think of something to do with that album, I might let myself spend on that. =)
Have a wonderful time at the wedding!
