Good week. Very good.

We bought Paul's flights home for his quick leave trip in June. It was pretty surreal penciling the time his flight lands into my calendar. We spent $95 on trip insurance in case he needs to come home earlier or something changes. But I know the fact that we invested money in a back-up plan means we will probably not need a back-up plan. So it's sort of a win-win. I have an appointment with my midwife this afternoon and I am excited to hear how baby girl is doing – specifically if she has turned head down yet. There's no real rush to get her out of breach position, but her movements have changed recently so I know something is shifting in there.

This weekend I am headed up to LA for lots of friend time and then all of next week I'll have my sister-in-law in town for a visit. We hope to make more progress on the house, hunt for vintage treasures and get the nursery completely set up. I also have a plan for a DIY ottoman that may or may not come to fruition. April is flying. I am thrilled.

Something fun to share: I am honored to join some lovely mothers on Spilled Milk, a collaborative photography blog. Each Wednesday, we'll be uploading new photos that we all took around a theme and the over-arching idea of motherhood. It's a fun challenge to be a part of right now while my little one is still in my belly and I really look forward to seeing how this will push my photo taking through the next few weeks and then after her arrival. Consider adding the blog to your bookmarks for photography inspiration once a week.

I am feeling light and energized. Hip hip hooray for that. Have a wonderful weekend.

I am growing my first garden of tomatoes and runner beans this year. In the UK we have not started growing them yet as we still had frost a few weeks ago. I can;t wait to get my crop going!

In regards to helping coax your baby out of breech (and/or posterior) position is to get on all fours on your bed or on the ground, and lean forward so your head/arms are resting on the surface – your bottom is still high in the air. Stay like this for a good 10-20 minutes if you can to help the baby have time to readjust. Do this daily. Basically the baby thinks of your belly curve as a hammock and if we lean back all day, the baby tends to go into a posterior position. Leaning forward or bending over helps them rest against the belly. 🙂 Hope that helps. I’m sure your doctor will give you some tips too.

My baby was breech and I didn’t know it (although the movements felt different than my other 2 pregnancies) until our 3D ultrasound. We had elected not to find out his/her gender so no one was more shocked than the ultrasound tech when she first put the wand to my belly in what she thought was the spot for a baby face. It wasn’t. 🙂 Thankfully I didn’t know what I was looking at and she had quick reflexes, or our big surprise would have been given away early. My little one eventually turned, and now she’s 6-months of healthy & sweet perfection. Enjoy your weekend!

Do you know what type of succulent that is with the yellow flowers? I see them all over San Diego, but I’m from the south where there’s nothing close to a succulent, so I’m not sure what they are.

Loved the Spilled Milk blog………might have to join in with the themes…..beautiful and I love how everyone has a different meaning to these themes…..I love how people are documenting their lives more with everyday pictures. I wish I knew about blogs when I was a new Mum at home along all day in Melbourne and got back into my photography back then. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

Sounds like a busy but awesome week! Love the succulent photos… I hope we can grow some in the new house once we move, but I’m not yet sure what will grow there. Your light fitting is so amazing, too!! Also, where did you print the instagram magnets? I’d really like to get some done

    Hi Elise
I went to all those birth preparedness classes with the hubby where you lay out your ideal birth scenario, with each element on a card. Drugs or no drugs, etc. Then at the end, the instructor said to turn over two cards. Birth never goes as expected. I am only telling you this because my eldest ended up breach and I ended up with a Cesarean. I went to an acupuncturist where they tried this incense stuff called Mugwort on the outside of my feet which was supposed to help baby turn…. she wiggled but nothing happened. It was only after the Cesarean that we discovered she was wrapped up in the cord and couldn’t turn. Thanking my stars we hadn’t tried an aversion, which wouldn’t have worked and could have harmed her. Here’s hoping your girl turns like she should, but just know that even if things don’t go as you hoped, you are still a mama and about to have a family of 3. xo
