I have had a great week in Sacramento with the parents. Lots of walks, good food, FaceTiming with Paul, online window shopping for furniture, celebrating a friend's engagement, coffee & creating thank you favors for my baby shower tomorrow.

The highlight though was the donuts. I told Paul Thursday morning that I was craving pink frosted donuts with sprinkles. He secretly had them delivered that afternoon. It was unexpected and like any normal seven month pregnant person, I sobbed. (And then enjoyed one immediately. And if anyone besides me is keeping score, my blood sugar levels post-donut came back completely normal.)

Just like I hoped I would be, this past week has been refreshing and I am excited to get home and back to house organizing and planning. April is jam-packed in the very best way and at this point in the pregnancy and Paul's deployment I am super ready for a full schedule.

This week I also shared a Project Life insert for my Tips & Tricks column on the Studio Calico blog. You can see the layout above and download a PDF with my tips for creating something similar here.

Have a wonderful Spring weekend.

I know dandelions are considered a weed but I love them nonetheless. They bring back good good memories of childhood and now whenever I see one I just want to take a picture to record the memory; and receiving surprises when ones spouse is deployed is super awesome. When my hubby was deployed to Somalia many years ago I had to attend a one-month school for my job (I was military too). He sent me a dozen roses to the hotel I would be staying at and they were there to welcome me and wish me well in school. Half way around the world and he’s sending roses…such an awesome feeling to KNOW that love. so glad you have it.

I love reading about deployment surprises!! My friend’a husband his cards all around their house before he left. They were in places that he normally would’ve had to reach for her. (He’s 6’2″ and she’s 5’4″) She said it was perfect because it was in those moments, when she was luggin around a ladder, that she would miss him the most.

I’m not seven months pregnant, but that choked me up. Wow… all the love that is expressed in one little donut. Continue pressing forward, Elise. You encourage others along your way.

My son is 17 now. Dandelions always make me think of his younger days. I always got bouquets of the cute yellow flowers and a detour was always going to happen when a puff ball was in site and ready to be blown!

Isn’t the blood sugar being normal after a donut a great sign?! I’m not pregnant but I think even I would cry a little when the donuts arrived. I’m glad you seem to be gliding through your pregnancy and can’t wait until there’s a little one running around (or just having some belly time for awhile lol)

So enjoying catching up on your blog tonight, and reliving my pregnancies vicariously through yours:)
Your donuts reminded me of a moment I’d forgotten. I was eight months pregnant and still teaching high school English. I had an evening meeting following Parent Conferences and had said something to my husband about how starved I was going to be by the time I got home. But I wouldn’t dare try to eat during the meeting.
He walked in during our meeting that evening with my favorite sandwich. It made me cry—and I devoured in front of my hungry colleagues too!
