It's week eight and I love this project.

Week of : February 18 – February 24.

What happened this week? Paul, in Spain, visited Cadiz for the pre-lent festival. My mom came down to help get the old house in order to move out. The packers came. I turned 28. I signed Escrow paperwork twice – once in our house with a notary and once in San Diego at the Escrow offices.

Anything special in the spread? I added a small 5×7 insert to hold the journaling from my birthday post. Instead of just printing on cardstock, I printed on lightly patterned paper by Amy Tangerine. The number paperclips are from Studio Calico.

Techniques this week : Nothing special. I was SUPER low on photos this week… that's what happens when life gets crazy, so there is a lot of text instead. Not ideal but it is what it is.

Overall thoughts : I created this entire spread on Wednesday, a week and half after the week had ended because of the move. It was hard for me to go back and play catch up; it's not the way I like to work on this project. BUT, it's good practice. I know life will get crazy with the addition of the little one and catch up might be the name of the game for awhile. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ratio of iPhone photos to "real camera" photos : 5 to 1.

Ratio of photos taken by Elise to photos taken by Paul : 4 to 2.

Supplies used : Seafoam core kit, Studio Calico Project Life kit (hello 3×4 card), Paislee Press heart transparency, Freckled Fawn wood chip, birthday cards, Amy Tangerine patterned paper (kraft), Studio Calico patterned paper (dot), Evalicious flair badge, Studio Calico number paper clips, Martha Stewart & Avery labels.

Tools used : Design A pocket pages, 5×7 photo pocket page, Fiskars corner rounder, Zig Millenium pen, Rotatrim paper trimmer, Office Depot date stamp, staz-on ink. All photos were printed at home on my HP Photosmart 2575 printer on Office Depot semi-gloss photo paper.

Project Life is a memory-keeping system created by Becky Higgins. I use photos, text and stuff to document our life weekly. You can see all the posts from 2012 here and 2013 here. Do you have a question about how I am tackling this project? Check here.

What program do you use to get your pictures to 3×4 before you print them? I know that you print yours at home, and as I was looking into Walgreens to print mine, I realized they do not allow the option of printing in that size, so I am needing to find an alternative way to get them printed. Any help/suggestions would be amazing!

I also used the Anthropologie mailer during my birthday spread last month! As soon as I saw it- I knew it would be perfect for Project Life. Really enjoying seeing your spreads every week, so glad you share them.

Totally unimportant but isn’t the name of the Spanish city Cadiz?

I haven’t even got started yet with 2013. Final semester of grad school is keeping me busy. I do plan on getting at least January done while on Spring Break this coming week. I just got the Photosmart 7520. We needed a regular printer, but I’m hoping it does well with photos. I’d love to be able to print my photos weekly instead of waiting a month to send them off to get printed. My tip for helping out when you get behind is keeping a small calendar and writing down things that happen that you might want in PL and then you’ll have the dates.

Forgive me, if you mentioned this in your post (I looked but couldn’t see if you mentioned it), where is the camera sticker from on the photo of Spain? It is adorable.

Do a Google search on her blog for how she prints these. I know she opens them up in PhotoShop and creates a 4×6 canvas and then crops her photos to 3×4 and then drags them onto the 4×6 canvas. She can get two 3×4’s this way. Hope this makes sense.

Oh okay, thank you! Unfortunately, I do not have Photoshop, nor do I have the funds to afford it right now. So I’m going to have to find an alternative way to go about getting 3×4 pictures.

sorry elise. I hope you don’t mind my jumping in!
There’s a video on her blog somewhere! She prints them in iphoto. I would search her blog. Try something like “print photo” or a variation of keywords along those lines.

It’s really easy to do in picasa, which is free. There’s a “Create a collage” option where you can select a 4×6 canvas and then drag the photos you want, Picasa sizes them for you.

A few years ago my husband (back then bf) spent 6 months in Andalusia. He was visiting the same cities as Paul did – on his own and together with me when I was visiting (which was quite often since I am living in Europe). That’s why your PL spreads are kind of a trip down memory lane.
