I've been in the new house a week! And it's settling quite nicely. I have both parents coming into town this weekend to help get stuff hung up (like new lights and towel racks), hook up the washer and dryer (it's a process because we have to add ventilation in the garage), build an indoor plant stand and tackle the backyard. My list of "Dad projects" is quite long and I am so lucky to have help for the next few days.

My first "Elise project" is going to be a new black and white triangle quilt for our bed. It's been awhile since I have made a queen size quilt, so this is going to be a fun one. I am going to be changing out our black and white chevron headboard for something different (though I am not exactly sure what yet) so the new bedroom will be getting a completely new look. Something more subdued than teal, I think…

Some fun non-house news : because I was able to get settled fairly quickly, I was able to re-open the shop earlier than expected. This week I introduced four new stamp designs. These are fun ones that reflect my life at the moment I hope they connect with some of you too. You can shop books and stamps here.

I hope you have a happy & productive weekend!

I was clothes shopping last night with my husband and I showed him a pair of teal pants with a black and white polka dot top that I thought would be super daring; he raised his eyebrow…but when I saw the teal pants and the black and polka dot top when once I never would have considered wearing something like that together but your inspiration with color moves me to see colors together so differently. Teals and turquoises are my fav and signature color to wear too.
But a black and white quilt would look awesome with coral too – or yellow. So excited to see your inspiration!

Your house is starting to take shape.
LOVE THE NEW STAMPS! You have excellent taste in your ideas. You have made me a connoisseur of your stamps as a result. I’ll be placing an order tonight <3.

Sounds like things are going so well! I’m excited to see what new headboard/bed you come up with. I am quilting for the first time and loving the process. I don’t know about you, but so much of it reminds me of scrapbooking and paper art. Enjoy your weekend!

Love the black and white quilt – a quick question on quilting since I am nearly finished my first ever one and wanted to ask (i followed your tutorial!) – how do you make sure you sew your lines straight when binding the three layers together? In your triangle quilt tuturoial you show the yellow lines in one of the pictures to show where you sew and I just wandered if you had a tip for sewing straight? I struggled especially in the middle of the quilt as it bunches up on the right handside…

Hi Elise! I love all your stamps; have you considered making them available in a digital format? I’m doing all my project life pages digitally and would love to add your stamps that way.
    Congrats on the new house!

Elise, I love that your stamps are such a great reflection of the seasons of your life.
Seeing how they correspond to the posts you’ve been sharing it’s clear how much your art reveals about what matters to you. That’s very inspiring!
Congrats again on the new home and thanks for sharing it with your readers, like me.

No tip – a lot of people in the comments have recommended buying a walking foot attachment for my machine which I think makes the fabric stay flatter and straighter. That might be something you want to try! I have just manhandled it through and my lines are not perfect, but workable. 🙂

Hey, Elise! I don’t comment very often but your blog is one of my faves 🙂 Congrats on the new house and your pregnancy! I’m so happy for you!
My husband and I recently moved into a new apartment, and our landlord is…interesting. Anyway, our dryer isn’t vented, but he hooked us up with one of these box kits – https://www.google.com/search?q=dryer+box+instead+of+vent&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=C2&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=BaA6UcbDCMfj2QWvo4DwAQ&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1690&bih=764#imgrc=lzKkMk3whXL6gM%3A%3BOMTONRLQUze2FM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fimages.esellerpro.com%252F2990%252FI%252F404%252F8%252F5031689259811.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%252Fitm%252FUNIVERSAL-Tumble-Dryer-CONDENSER-VENT-KIT-Box-With-Hose-Fits-All-Makes-%252F221154147466%3B420%3B420 – and it works SO well. You just fill the box halfway with water, connect the hose from the dryer into the box, and it works perfectly. Something about the water being in the box makes it friction-less. Or something.
ANYWAY. I’m sure you have a major master-plan BUT I just wanted to bring this to your attention – I had no idea this thing existed, so maybe it can help you!

Loving all the black and white. I’m really drawn to black and grey lately, with minimal pops of bright colors, like orange, yellow, teal.
