Boldmarch

February was a blur. A giant, messy, beautiful blur. I cried more tears of frustration in the past month than in the past eleven months put together. Paul leaving was hard. Buying a house by myself was hard. Getting a move organized alone was hard. Sitting on the phone with insurance to get a new doctor was … well not hard, but super annoying. But the plus side is the time flew. Flew.

We are on to March. And this the downhill part. (I hope.) There will be challenges to getting the home set up, but at least the uphill battle of getting into this place and out of the last one is over.

Setting some simple but important bold intentions for this month.

  1. figure out where I want to deliver baby girl and arrange OB care for the remainder of this pregnancy.
  2. plant the vegetable garden!!!!!!
  3. schedule downtime. Breaks are going to be the name of the game this spring. I can't tasmanian devil my way through the unpack period and house set up. I need to remember that daily.

March, you're already my favorite. Let's blur it up.

planting a vegetable garden sounds wonderful! I hope to do so when I get a yard of my own. Are you planting anything new that you didn’t have last year?

blimey giving birth in the USA sounds complex. In the UK you just see a midwife unless there are complexities with the mum or baby when you also see a Dr. but with good luck everything runs smoothly and you give birth either at home or in a nice hospital.

Hi Elise, I just wanted to say that I (we?) have really appreciated you taking us along for the ride recently. I wonder if blogging has seemed like a chore on top of everything else you are handling? – (superbly by the way). Living vicariously through someone who lives a world away is one of my favourite things to do so thank you.

I am not sure yet! I know there will be many more plants, not sure of different varieties yet, aside from cherry tomatoes. 🙂

Aw Elise. One day at a time and I wish you all of the best and nothing less. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and realize that this is quite a frustrating time for you. Hopefully your OLW word challenge can help you through this time. I’ve been repeating my word every day as we are also in the moving process (once again).

Hey Elise- not sure how your insurance works with the military and all… My OB in San Diego is incredible and a few of my nurse friends at work have had their babies delivered by her. She is with IGO medical group in university city/la Jolla and her name is Dr. Gunnarson. Pretty sure she delivers at Mary Birch. Check her out, she’s really personable and SO smart! Good luck during this stressful time!! Your home is gorgeous, can’t wait to see how you deck it out!

I second the Sharp Mary Birch suggestion. I’m biased because I work for Sharp but I have had several friends and coworkers deliver there and they have all given glowing reviews 🙂

    Downtime is good.
I am traveling to San Deigo in June. You don’t know me but I’d appreciate any help you can offer. I’ve been told South Mission beach area might be good? Traveling with the hubs and two girls, 7 and 9. Overwhelmed by the possibilities. Want to kayak, maybe at Mission because La Jolla is more touristy and likely spendier. Or course we are doing the zoo and Sea World and all that too.

My sister in law works at Balboa as a nurse. I can ask her if she knows of any good OB-GYN’s there if you are on Tricare Prime (or want to deliver there). I’m not sure how far away you are from Balboa but I’d be happy to ask for you!

Awe Elise. If I lived closer I’d come over unpack for you and let you prop your feet up . Then I’d drive you around and tour birthing centers with you. I know you can do this and like you said, just taking the time each day to do it will come. Don’t forget to take care of you and baby girl. You’re all in my prayers.

I pulled a muscle in my belly by not taking it easy enough when moving while pregnant. Be kind to yourself, hire people to do the hard stuff…it’s just money, nothing compared to your well-being 🙂

Okay, so I’ve followed your blog for about 4 or 5 years and usually read posts through Google reader, but lately I haven’t been keeping up as much (college classes..) so I am just now finding out that you’re pregnant! Which this may sound super weird since I don’t actually know you, but I was so excited to find out! So a very late congratulations!

hey, hope you enjoy your trip! Unfortunately, I am the wrong person to ask for touring ideas. Honestly I do not even know what South Mission is… clearly, I have a lot to learn about the area. When Paul and I were here before, we lived downtown and spent a lot of our time there, mostly going out to farmers markets restaurants. Unfortunately, I dont have much information about stuff that is fun for kiddos yet – especially that age. I have been to the zoo and seaworld. Both big tourist attractions for sure.

I do have Tricare Prime and will most likely be delivering at Balboa. Gathering information about the midwives there actually! I have an appointment with my PCM next week and will know more then. I will be in touch though if I have questions. THank you!! e

Sounds like a great list of intentions! How exciting about starting a new veggie garden… Even more so that you’ll be able to actually plant stuff in the ground! Goodluck sorting out your baby’s birth arrangements and fitting in lots of down time 🙂

I love checklists — but remember, you don’t, or more importantly, your doctor DOESN’T deliver, your baby, you birth your baby!! Be proud of that! 🙂
