So…good news! We are currently in Escrow on a house we LOVE in San Diego. In a few weeks, when the Escrow is closed, I have the keys and things are starting to settle, I would love to share the looong and crazy story of how this place came to be ours, but the short story is…we're becoming home owners!

And this house is truly awesome.

I took some photos on Monday while one of our many inspections was taking place and am excited to share them here with you. The house is older (1960s) and was recently flipped and updated. They went with a mid-century modern look and it's rad. It's SO rad. I cannot wait to make this house a home.

(p.s. that last photo was taken in baby girl's room. I am going to get to set up her room before she's here. This makes me endlessly happy.)

    Oh wow, it looks fantastic, so bright and open. I must admit I’m a little jealous, we bought a house in Oklahoma last year and could not find anything near this cool during our search! I wish you the best of luck for a smooth closing (unlike ours, where the realtor called to tell us we couldn’t close that day as we were on the drive to his office to sign! Ugh!) and an easy move.

    So great, congrats!! As I was going through the photos I kept trying to figure out if the house was brand new or an upgraded older home. So neat that it’s a flipped house– I have only seen one or two of those, and yours looks great!

    Congrats! What a gorgeous home! We moved into (and renovated) a 1961 atomic ranch two years ago. Words cannot express how much I love our home. I never thought I could be so smitten with a HOUSE!
    Two recommendations for you:
    1 – RetroRenovation.com – if you are looking for ways to decorate with the MCM feel, this web site is a treasure trove of information. Pam is wonderful, and there is a fantastic community there.
    2 – if you can swing it, I highly recommend getting a Crestview Door Kit for your front door (my parents hooked us up with one as our housewarming gift). Full disclosure, I know the folks who run Crestview, but it is truly an awesome indie biz, and their kits are amazing. I never thought I’d care about a front door, but man – it has made ALL the difference. I love walking up to it every day.
