Week 52 and I still love this project. πŸ˜‰

It's like the end of an era. Except not really, because soon I'm staring Era #2, 2013 edition. I am so pleased that I stuck with this project for a whole year and invigorated to begin all over again.

I got a comment last weekend about how I always seem to be moving on to the next thing and don't enjoy the present. It bummed me out, not because it's accurate, but because I have certainly given off that air on the blog as I've wrapped up Project Life 2012. My job (blogging, making products and planning workshops) definitely requires a lot of "thinking ahead" and "looking forward." It's a habit of mine in my professional life to turn the calendar page early and look at the next week instead of the current week. (If I didn't, I would never stay on top of having a blog post up every weekday morning and I'd never be able to launch products on a seasonal time frame.)

But in my personal life, I really work to enjoy & treasure the moment. I love doing the activities presented on the blog or shown in our albums… much more than I love documenting them. I am sorry that I was rushing through the end of the year on the blog. In "real life" I am celebrating and enjoying this season so much. Having Paul home this year to celebrate with and expecting a little one is SUCH a joy and nothing I would ever take for granted or want to breeze past. πŸ™‚

Annnd, moving on. I am still up in Sacramento and don't have access to my printer or the majority of my supplies. Photos this week were printed yesterday at a local drugstore and embellishments were sparse. πŸ˜‰ Surprise, surprise, I didn't take very many photos this week. It makes me smile thinking about how many more I'll be taking next year as we celebrate our first Christmas with the baby.

Two Christmas cards in the 3×4 slots and then 4×6 photos from Christmas Eve.

The top photo is one of my faves. I stuck my iPhone on the dashboard while we were driving up to Sacramento and then cropped it to 12×4 to fit into two 4×6 pockets. Pretty fun portrait of the two of us.

Left side has more photos from our quick trip to San Francisco and journaling about how much I loved seeing Les Miserables on Saturday.

The insert this week is my "best of 2012" page that I created for the Studio Calico Tips & Tricks column this month. Pretty fun to have a photo wrap up in the album. πŸ™‚

You can see more photos and read more about my process with it over there.

And with that I bid a GOOD BYE to 2012. Thank you for some truly amazing memories. I am going to be including any relevant photos & stories from today and tonight in our 2013 album.

supplies / Paper Source
circle labels, Studio Calico Project Life January kit, 3×4 jolly transparency and merry and bright ampersand stamp by Mer Tilton, Design A & Design F page protectors, I use a Fiskars corner rounder (it's not amazing, but it's lasted the longest of any corner rounder I've ever had). I am using a Zig Millennium 0.1 pen and Recollections glossy marker throughout this album.

I have loved seeing all of your Project Life posts – and I couldn’t disagree more with the comment that was left for you. I think that you are such an ispiration to all of us who are hoping to find our passion in life and be able to make a career out of it. I admire you and your ability to continue with such a full life while your husband is away often. I can’t imagine how hard that is at times. You always seem so dedicated to your work and happy with where you are in life. I can’t wait to see everything that you have planned for 2013!

The very acts of planning and documenting means that the now can appear harried; it absolutely doesn’t mean that as the occur the treasure of the moment is neglected. At least by doing what you do, you have a tangible memory of your now that will immediately become your past. I think that is bloody marv!
    Happy New Year!

Love your best of 2012…. A brilliant way to close out pl 2012! I’m totally going to use this as inspiration for my first pl album in 2013. Like you I’m not one to go backwards to document but 2011 an 2012 were such monumental years for my husband and I. Instead of full pl albums…I may just do best of for those years….a way to document moments from our life I never want to forget without the pressure of a full album. Thanks for the inspiration and can’t wait for seafoam to be released. All the best in the new year!

You inspire me with your “look ahead” attitude. I honestly, don’t know how you’d survive a military marriage without it. It’s OBVIOUS that you love the present moments – just by looking at your photos. You alwasy inspire me to stop and look at the NOW.
I have to admit, that as a single {no child} scrapper, you have been my biggest PL hero, so it will be really different when every photo is of your baby {LOL!!} Thanks for an awesome 2012 PL inspiration!! πŸ™‚

It looks great! I’ve been interested in PL for a while, but can’t do a weekly thing. I know Becky is coming out with mini albums so perhaps I’ll try that!
To speak to living in the present: I think it’s challenging to do that, personally and professionally, at least for me. I don’t know anyone who has the corner on it. One thing I think you do beautifully is celebrating your everyday, which to me, is honoring the present in a real way.

I’ve gotten so much out of your blog posts this year, and you’re absolutely right that without some dedication to looking ahead, you wouldn’t have posts up so regularly. I also want to say that sheer happiness comes through your blog–that’s rare and inspiring (and clear evidence that you’re living in the moment)! Thanks for sharing your creative life this year.

I enjoy what you share and truly share in your excitement with all that is happening in your life at the moment. It’s funny how people interpret what they read on a blog. I’ve always said it’s really only a snippet of one’s life. None of us live your life and we can in no way truly measure how you live your life, and nor would I want to. That would just be plain silly.
I have no idea how I’m going to do it but I’m doing project life 2013 and I’m so excited. Thank you for being such an inspiration. X

Elise, Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring and realistic documentation of your life, your business, your relationships and your passions. Your blog is the first one I read every morning – it always starts my day with a smile and/or a though-provoking quip.
I’m (im)patiently awaiting my Seafoam Edition of PL to arrive so I can document 2013. I have two teenagers that will be turning 16, will have 3 kids in high school, my mom is going into a nursing home and I’m going to be doing lots of things to ramp up my own small business – I really want to have memories and mementos of this chapter of my life!
I’m starting with today as well, and will be gathering everything in a temporary holding spot until Seafoam arrives.
Cheers to you and your wonderful family!

I thought for a long time in my life that I wasn’t happy in the moment because I was always looking ahead, always aiming for more. But then I realized it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the now, it just means I live large. I’m excited for more, I don’t want to settle for just ok right now. I think it’s good to live for exciting and more. I come to your blog everyday because you inspire me to be more creative, to look for more creativeness in my days. I echo pretty much everything that was said here. My one little word for 2013 is “present”, being present is a challenge for ME. It seems like you enjoy life more than just about anyone I know — in all directions, past present and future. It’s part of why you have so many followers I would imagine. I’m sure others agree that we cannot wait to see your pregnancy and motherhood perspectives reflected here and in PL as your family grows. I was so excited when you announced that you were pregnant, I think my Soul Mate was a bit confused at first and thought I actually KNEW you when I told him! LOL Your enthusiasm (and even those ups and downs of life) inspire us all! I’m anxiously awaiting my Seafoam kit (I hope next week) so that I can tackle PL for the first time — much of which is because of you and your sharing here. I also signed up for “i choose” and BPC and I am looking forward to a 2013 full of accomplishments! What a wonderful 2012 you’ve had, and looking ahead, it seems 2013 will be even more exciting for you and your family!!!

I’m just starting with Project Life and I was wondering how you preferred to organize it…do you do it from Sunday to Saturday (for example this week would be December 30-January 5) or do you do the week starting on January 1st (January 1-January 7)?
