Garland

Our little place is starting to feel festive!

Tree

Hooray for buying trees on base where they can be taller than me, super green and… $35! After a parking lot tree guy wanted to charge
me $90, I was pretty pleased.

Garland3

I bought most of our ornaments on super sale last year after Christmas, and plan to do the same thing again this year. Then I think our collection will be pretty complete.

Garland4

And my simple tree DIY ornament this year is a star garland.

Stars2

Last month, I cut a bunch of stars freehand out of cream felt.

Stars

Piles of stars.

And then I used my sewing machine and some gold thread to connect them all together. I added gold glitter to a few of them, but didn't love that (sort of a hassle and I don't think it adds much), but I love the star shape for sure.

Happy to be getting festive around here.

I saw this post and gasped, “so pretty!”. And for all the right reasons. . . not the bling-bling kinda overspent look, just the heartwarming kind of beauty that Christmas is all about. Love this. ♥

I was thinking about making a similar tree garland too! I can’t decide between stars or just red and white circles… this will be the first christmas my boyfriend and I will be living together and we have about 5 ornaments… ha.

So pretty! I crocheted red + green garland a few years ago to go on our tree and it adds so much 🙂 I LOVE your stars! Great idea. I’m doing woodland themed ornaments this year. I did the same thing as you and picked up a bunch when they were on sale. ♥

    Love the garland! Makes me want to start chopping up felt into all kinds of festive shapes and start sewing! {I wonder if felt can be cut with kiddie scissors…might put the four-year-old!}

Awesome deal on the tree! Our 9 footer is close to $100. I love your star garland too. My little ones still think ornaments are balls so this is right up my alley. 😉

Love your tree! Makes me want to decorate…but I’m going to wait until I have some help & possibly a tree…ha, ha. I used to buy one ornament each year and it is amazing how they take me back in time and I remember where I was when I bought them. I also have a special aunt who gave my sons a handmade ornament each year and they are so excited (even now that they are adults) to hang their own ornaments on the tree. Love decorations, lights and traditions.

    Pretty garland!
Do they not have Trees for Troops on your base where you can get a tree for free? That is how we got ours when we were active duty. But $35 is a really good price, too!!

I live on a base and got our tree through Trees for Troops last year which was awesomr. There aren’t enough for every family so they run a contest to give them out. Since I won last year, I didn’t want to be greedy :). I got our tree from the exchange for $35 this year.

I had never heard about that program but That is great! But yeah, I am happy to pay the $35, feels like a deal and saves the free ones for others.

I love the garland. You could do one with hearts for Valentine’s Day. Or add red and blue stars for fourth of July.
