Annnnnd, we're through the week.

Pretty quiet around here work-wise and that has been really nice. I'm spending a lot of time dreaming up holiday projects, our 2012 holiday cards and blog posts. Trader Joe's had tiny Christmas trees and I almost bought six to create a forest on my mantle before I realized I need to wait until December. I am doing a lot of knitting because the best part of knitting is I can move it around the house. If you've read this blog for more than three days, you know I tend to jump on a crafting method, forsake all other activities, and camp out there for awhile. Right now, I'm hooked on knitting again. This shall last about one more week. And then it will be ___________. We'll have to see.

I made a cowl on election day and it's awesome. Both MSNBC and Fox News would have been so impressed. I'm headed up to Sacramento to visit the parents for a few days and rumor has it they have some actual fall-ish weather up there so it might actually get some use. I'll share more photos and a quick tutorial (spoiler alert, it's easy!) if yes.

Holiday books! Thank you for your orders so far! I have plenty left...shop them here.

And last thing, I was contacted by Heather from 3 Scrappy Boys about a 10% off sale she is running in her shop in honor of Veteran's Day. 20% of all sales through the end of November will be donated the Wounded Warrior Project. Obviously, with Paul in the Navy, this is something close to my heart and I wanted to share with you all. Learn more here.

Have a great weekend.

Elise, I’m kind of relieved that you’re currently enjoying a craft that doesn’t tempt me at all… because I have more than enough creative projects in progress already! πŸ™‚
Also, I’m curious if you used a Cricut or Silhouette or something similar to cut the scalloped circles for your mini-books. I’m not sure the investment in a machine would be worth it for me, but I’ve definitely thought about it.

My husband works for Dawn Halfaker who is the president of Wounded Warrior Project. It is an incredible organization so this contribution is nice to see!

I love the cowl you made! I have been knitting up dishcloths as treats for Thanksgiving & since we are going back to New England for it, I think I better knit up a cowl, too!
I plan on ordering a Holiday book this week, if there are any left!

I do not own any special die-cutters. I buy those scalloped cards from waste not paper – a wholesale company connected to Paper Source. πŸ™‚

I’ve been knitting like crazy too. I just finished a cowl/scarf. I’m about to start some slippers for my husband. I’m trying to knit as much as I can before I burn out like you in a few weeks, haha. I still have a few quilts to finish too. β™₯Lindsay

Love the cowl, but I haven’t jumped into knitting yet. Maybe that’s a good project to start with, as I should get plenty of use out of it! I love seeing a glimpse of your life. The candles look very cozy!

I love the cowl – would love your tutorial – as I’m almost finished one and have another to begin! I’m on the second attempt of my first one, because the wool was too thick for the pattern I started and I wouldn’t have been able to turn my head! Love your projects, energy and enthusiasm!

Those quilts look awesome! I can’t wait for your pattern for the cowl, either. I’ve been after another knitting project at the moment, because making a blanket takes too long and I like breaking the project up a bit with other things. I can’t wait to see what the stripey project is!

    Hello, Elise!
I discovered your blog yesterday and have been loving it! There is so much to read about that I don’t even know where to start! πŸ™‚ I really liked your Currently feature, and decided to borrow it for my blog (hope you don’t mind?)
As for knitting, I love doing that during fall and winter, but this year is w bit different for me, since I am in Africa and it is hot here! The weather really doesn’t prompt me to sit down and knit 😦 I miss the cold! But next year I will get back to it πŸ™‚
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
