Holiday12

I was all over the place this week.

I am currently playing, "hurry up and get ahead!" so that I have enough time later this month to dedicate to a big project. This means I need everything craft fair related ready to go (thankfully, it is!), holiday book papers prepped (almost there!) projects planned & blog posts thought about (getting there-ish!). I feel like I'm running around in circles and desperately need to take a deep breath.

Whew.

I am determined to work smarter, not harder next week. Survey says, "It might be possible." Magic eight ball says, "Ask again later." I say, "Pull it together, Blaha." (Fun fact, I have totally adopted "Cripe" as my last name in real life – though I don't care what name or combination of names gets used online as long as they are spelled right – but when I talk to myself it's always, "Blaha.")

My big take away this week is that I need to get back to the "no email after 6pm" rule. I have been stressed in the evenings and sleeping poorly and I think it's because I have not been actively shutting down "work-mode" each day. Tuesday & Wednesday, I skipped an inbox check after Paul got home and noticed a very real difference in how I felt those few hours before bed. What a relief.

Have a great weekend & if you are looking for something to read, may I suggest The Violet? Their fall issue is gorgeous and I have an article inside about (what else?!) Project Life.

I fully agree with that “no email after 6pm” ordinance. It makes such a difference (I notice it with falling asleep, too!). Happy Friday.

I think these are my favorite posts of yours. I’m so impressed with your crossword puzzles. My husband and I attempt them sometimes, and we are terrible. (Good thing we spent all that money on those graduate degrees.)

Haha – I love that you still refer to yourself as Blaha! I always refer to myself by my maiden name too even though I’m Yost in real life. Even my husband calls me Seela, which I always think is funny/endearing. Good luck getting things accomplished next week, you can do it Blaha! 🙂

I LOVE following your project life and I especially love what you said about not knowing about your parents lives before they had kids. I get a lot of questions from my 37 yr old daughter about that. I hope a lot of young people take note.

I hear you on the no email after 6 PM. I did a bunch of emailing last night until around 10 PM…and slept horribly! I like your 6 PM cut off…will try this, too.
    Have a great weekend!

I love that you call yourself Blaha, still. I still call myself Malloy (my maiden name), too. I think it’s funny that in my head I’m still just me, not a part of something bigger/newer. Probably b/c it’s just me vs. me duking out something.. like getting it done!! 🙂 Good luck, you can totally do it!

I love your photos this week! Especially the coffee shot, car shot, and the one of Paul and your living room. Love that you can see your “crafty mess” on the couch thing by your fireplace and mail by the entryway!

I need to establish a no e-mail after 6pm rule in my house. Love that. Thank you again for your contribution to The Violet! A lot of people told us it was their favorite article! 😉

Let’s face it, humans are jealous beings sometimes. I couldn’t decided what to be most jealous of today… and then it hit me. It’s the awesome light in your apartment!! LOL! I live on some beautiful property in a charming 100 year old house, but we fight for a single good indoor picture. Old houses don’t like light!! Love these posts. Thanks doll.

Loving the holiday books. I was just telling myself that I have bought entirely too much stuff for December Daily and then I go and see that you’re making awesome books. Would you share what size they’re going to be?

I’ve been disconnecting after “normal work hours” and I love it. I’m trying to get into a normal 8-5 routine with this freelance/work from home thing. Working late just frustrates me and doesn’t mean I accomplish anything extra. By 8 p.m., I like to be done, plopped in front of the TV or reading a good book.
