Projectlifepalmsprings

I decided to give our weekend trip to Palm Springs it's own full spread in our (my?) Project Life album. I definitely did not take as many photos on this mini getaway as I did last time, so I didn't have enough to justify a full minibook. But, happily, I did have some fun ones that I wanted to highlight and I figured it would be cool to do something different and complete a full spread from one trip. I'll be sharing week 31 (the week before we left) this Sunday as usual.

Palmspringsfull

(click to enlarge and the image above will be [somewhat] clearer.)

Detail1

There are three fun things I want to highlight as I share this spread…

Cut

First, I wanted something "extra" marking these pages, but I wasn't sure what that could be. I didn't have a lot to say, so I didn't need a journaling insert other than what's on the 4×6 diagonal lined card. After thinking for a bit, I decided to add a Project Life divider. But for extra punch, I painted hot pink stripes on it. Because I didn't really want the extra tab sticking out the top of the album, I snipped that right off. I used fabric paint because that was the best neon I had on hand. It stuck really well to the acrylic divider.

Happyplace

Instead of the top tab, I stapled one to the side with "happy place" (from the SMASH date stamp) stamped on top…

Tabdates

…and Friday, Saturday & Sunday's dates on the back.

Palmspringsright

I love that it adds decoration, but is see-through so the photo stay the focus.

4photos

The second thing involves the photos. I obviously had a bunch of colorful ones from the trip, but I didn't have many of the two of us. I really wanted to include our photobooth strip, but it's so tiny that I feared it would get lost on the page (plus I want to frame the original).

Photobooths

My solution was to scan it into my computer (at super high resolution) and then crop each frame to 3×4 and print. I love how the four photos look in a row (even though 1 and 4 are very similar) and the black and white actually works well against all the color. I will absolutely be using this technique again (and again) as we find more photobooths to hop into.

Palmspringsleft

And third, you might have noticed on the left side, there are two sneak peeks of NEW stamps.

Stamppeek1

My new I LOVE stamp might be the most versatile yet.

Stamppeek2

And the new "RAD" stamp may be the least. 😉 But I love it – especially here in gold embossing powder on pink paper. I will be sharing more stamp peeks over the coming weeks and of course I will let you know when exactly to expect that big shop update.

Lastone

Super fun. Rainbows for the win.

p.s. I have been holding on to that "you pop my wheelie" greeting card for YEARS. This spread was the perfect opportunity to use it in all it's neon glory.

supplies / neon pink fabric paint, SMASH date stamp, Echo Park patterned paper, Ormolu kraft tab, Elise Joy stamps coming soon!, Project Life scrapbook dividers, Design A page protectors (which are available in this variety pack), Stazon ink, I use a Fiskars corner rounder (it's not amazing, but it's lasted the longest of any corner rounder I've ever had). I am using a Zig Millennium 0.1 pen and Recollections glossy marker throughout this album.

I looove the divider, Elise! Perfect for adding a little something extra, like a printed transparency, but different! And I definitely want the “i love” stamp – very, very cool!

I LOVE the love stamp! My kids and I are taking a 12 day trip to CA next week and I haven’t decided what to do with my photos yet. PL insert? Blurb book (that I can print in multiples and share? Minibook? ALL THREE? ugghhhhh….crafter’s problems.

when i saw what you did with your photo booth pics, i had to copy that idea. we don’t have a photo booth in our area, so i used the pocket booth app on my phone. once i uploaded the pic to my computer, i scanned each of the 4 pics to 3×4. it turned out so cool. thank you for your “RAD” project life inspiration!
PS. I can’t wait to get my hands on your new stamps!

thank you! I use black staz-on almost exclusively. it sticks great to the photos, but be careful, brand new staz-on ink pads are very juicy! take a few practice stamps to get used to it.

I absolutely LOVE seeing these posts when then come up. I’m so so so so so so so soooooooo tempted to start one myself (I used to be all old school and have scrapbooks… http://529scout.com/2012/07/15/flash-back-design-interior-style/ + http://529scout.com/2012/07/14/flash-back-personal-style/ …. but I don’t know if I’d keep it up now I’m hooked on online journalling. The look AWESOME, though, arch, decisions decisions….!!

You are SUCH a stamp tease!! Can’t wait to get my hands on the “I Love” one for sure! I send a lot of postcards to friends, and always need ones big enough to fit all the stamps 🙂
I have a silly question for you…I almost bought that smash date stamp, but I have really bad figuring-things-in-packages-out skills and couldn’t see how you could use each part of the stamp independently. So…um…can you? Good lord. I feel like a crafting idiot…help a girl out with the crafting dilemma!!

You can if you just stamp the word part (or date part) into the ink. That is what I did here to just get happy place. 🙂

Wow, I love how your pages here turned out, and such a great idea to include the weekend in your Project Life album that way. The photo booth photos look fantastic, and that neon divider is such a great compliment to your brilliant photos. I love being able to “follow you around” and be inspired by you. Thanks!

Hi Elise, I love the way you’ve documented your latest trip to Palm Springs.
I stayed in a hotel just around the corner from Ace hotel last night and was so excited that we’d be able to go to Ace and use their photobooth, having been inspired by your images from there – I love the internet for this very reason that after reading your blog from my home in England, I knew about Ace’s retro photo booth (and the delicious Chambers restaurant : )) and had the chance to go there on our roadtrip. Sadly the booth was broken! I couldn’t believe it! We did enjoy our dinner in Ace’s restaurant though!
