This was an incredibly fun photo walk – probably my favorite so far. I love the play of light and shadow and I love that "magic hour" right before sunset.

As always, please feel free to do your own photo walk. Use "light" as a prompt or anything else you can dream up. Keep the focus on just one thing though for a challenge.

All photos this time around were taken with Canon XSi around 7pm. ISO was set at 100 and I used manual focus (and then didn't do any focusing) for a few of them. See all photo walk posts here.

I’m going to do this asap! I’d be meaning to take my camera along on a walk or hike through the neighborhood but didn’t want to look like a creep hah! Now I’m justified!

I have it set on Av so I can make adjustments to the aperture and the shutter speed will match itself appropriately. 🙂

I was asking because that lady (=you) totally looks like she is expecting.. are you? or is it only the wind that blows your shirt?

not expecting. not even a little bit. that is the wind.

    Elise,
I love the photo walk idea, and now I’m addicted:) I was struggling the other day thinking of a “theme” for the day, as I like to call it, and this light theme would be perfect for my next walk. I only have a couple, but feel free to check out my neighborhood walks

Love this project 🙂 Are you sharing the logo you use on your first picture for use on our blogs if we link back to you, or would you prefer we just mention the post/project? Thanks!

Light is an awesome subject! I’m at work during most of the daylight hours at the moment, so I might have to wait until a clear weekend or summer again, but I love it!

I love all the light/dark neutral colors here! How did you take the 5th photo? I thought maybe you took it through a window/glass and it’s a partial reflection but it’s so clear it doesn’t look like it’s taken through glass.
I had no idea there was a whole free font of cameras… awesome! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

p.s. I don’t know anything about TypePad comments, but is there any way you can set it to where we get an email if someone replies to our comment? I LOVE that you reply to a lot of your comments but I have to go back to the post to check, and it’d be great if I could get a notification if you reply to my comment. Sorry if this is obvious or you’ve addressed it before… just wanted to ask. Thanks! 🙂

Thanks! I mostly do that too, it makes me feel like I have some creative control without the worry of full manual mode!

hey Skye, it should email you when I respond as long as you left your email address, which you do! Not sure what that is about, I get emails when I comment on other typepad blogs and the author responds… As for the photo – It was just taken in the street. I was partially blocking the light so you get the shadow. 🙂
