"Pattern" is my favorite thing to shoot. I love that if you get close enough to anything, you can usually find a pattern within the frame. I often take pattern photos when I am out of the house (and just have my phone camera), but I don't usually go on a walk with the intent of "shoot only pattern" like I did yesterday for these photos. It seems like sometimes when you are looking for something, it's harder to see.

I will be traveling next weekend for a wedding and I am looking forward to talking a few photo walks in different environments than just my street.

As always, please feel free to do your own photo walk. Use "pattern" as a prompt or anything else you can dream up. Keep the focus on just one thing though for a challenge.

All photos this time around were taken with my Canon Rebel xsi at about 10am (it was a super gray morning). ISO was set at 200. Aperture was at 5.6 usually. See all photo walk posts here.

I always find myself taking pictures of patterns like this! I like this idea and I am going to try it soon in my neighborhood, because I am moving in 2 weeks so it will be good to capture it all before I leave! Also, I love that graphic at the top with the camera and “Photo Walk,” did you create it?

Love the photos – especially the flowers. Aren’t nature’s patterns the neatest. Enjoy your week!

I love the idea of going for a walk with a purpose other than just to get some exercise. I have gathered so many wonderful photos this way too.

You have a very photographic neighbourhood! I love seeing your photo walk picture. It’s interesting all of the different things you come up with for them! I think I’ll start looking for patterns as I walk to work tomorrow to see what stands out here too 🙂

Gorgeous photos! Also, I know this was from a few posts ago, but I hope you’re enjoying Game of Thrones; I’ve read all of the books and I just got done watching season 1 on DVD, and it’s all so good. The books are really hard to put down once you’ve started, almost like a grown-up Harry Potter (with less magic and more violence, of course).

I have a whole folder on my computer for patterns – there really is something awesome about them. If I started this daily walking and taking pictures thing I’d probably end up with a lot of pictures of mailboxes, street signs, street cones, bicycles, and ladders. I’m pretty predictable.

I love taking photos of patterns, especially when travelling – Morocco was great for patterns! This has inspired me to get out and about with my camera again. I am off to Canberra (capital of Australia) this weekend, so I might start right away.

I ended up putting together a post with some of my favourite pattern photos I’ve taken the last few days… I didn’t expect to find anywhere near as many patterns on my walk since I do it each day, but it really made me way more observant! This was a fun challenge, and I can’t wait to see some of the others! My post is http://inspiredlifewithjess.wordpress.com/2012/06/22/photo-walk-pattern/ if anyone wants to have a look 🙂
Thanks for the fun idea, Elise!
