Maygrid

grateful for time spent up in Sacramento with my family.

loving these Blowfish wedges (especially with a polka-dot dress).

determined to work green vegetables into every dinner.

honored to have our wedding album published in the current issue of Scrapbooks Etc.

feeling overwhelmed with all that is on my plate right now.

eating watermelon by the large bowlful.

asking for clothing opinions on instagram. (the skirt came home with me.)

happy to see stamp shop photos popping up. (the rest will be out the door so soon!)

entertaining a few new project ideas for the 27 materials.

looking forward to seeing a movie in the theaters this weekend.

re-realizing that biology could care less about my opinions on when would be a good time for a little one.

accepting that & celebrating all the good.

turning sketches and notes into concepts and plans.

booking flights to Vegas for an upcoming bachelorette party.

finishing the (Monday) NY Times crossword.

taking photos of my patio garden like a proud parent.

embracing every second of these warm, sunlit days.

Are we going to be hearing some good news? Spring is in the air- flowers are blooming, fresh fruit at the stores, bun in the oven??? 😉

So sorry if you’re experiencing the frustrations of biology. I definitely experience that! Try to remember: we can only control the inputs, not the outputs. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a such a great book, I was a biology major and I still learned a lot by reading it!

We’re trying to start a family right now and experiencing some frustration as well. Sigh. I guess it’s not for us to decide just exactly when that will happen. But we’ll be super happy when it finally does!! I love your 27 materials project. I’m having so much fun keeping up with it and see the creative uses for each material. And those grilled artichokes look amazing. We got some artichokes the other day but I’ve never cooked whole ones before so I’m a little intimidated by it. I’ve been looking up tutorials on how to prepare it. I think grilling might be a good option. Did you like it that way? Any other ways you like to prepare artichoke?

Cherish the last couple of months ‘on your own’ – there’s still plenty of time to start a family so I wouldn’t panic 😉
I made the cinnamon pull apart bread today and it’s delicious! And I’ve fallen in love with the ‘joy the baker’ blog. thank you so much for sharing your baking adventures with us 🙂

I have never posted here before, but I saw someone mention the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book. I feel a bit awkward chiming in on a such a personal topic, but wanted to say the book is EXCELLENT. It is an eye opening look at your body….at least it was for me. Highly recommend and so helpful. Be well.

hugs! It can be frustrating enough trying to convince biology, let alone add an ever ticking military deadline on there too! Hang in there. I know it is going to sound trite, but I would give anything to go back 18 years and 3 kids later to when it was just my husband and me. Those were truly magical days, and we didn’t appreciate and savor them enough!
On a related note, I am going to butt in here and recommend a book, Rule Number 2, by Dr Heidi Kraft. About her time at a field hospital in Iraq, and readjusting to “normal” life again afterwords. It maybe of interest to you and/or Paul, or maybe someone else you know.
Congrats on your wedding album, the article looks great!

I have been reading your blog for a while now.. as I absolutely love all the amazing DIY/Craft adventures you and your home have been having. I am not really a commenter but just wanted to say good luck and I am sorry Biology isn’t agreeing with you right now. Biology and I have been in disagreement for half a year now… and while 6 months ago the fact my husband and I would be seperated for a couple of months seemed plenty far enough away for things to happen seems we were wrong. But it will all work out… one way or another. Best of luck to you and looking forward to the rest of the 27 materials.

I love the photos and all the helpful and personal advice you are receiving. Trying for baby no 1 is so exciting, scarey and sometimes frustrating or all 3 at once. I know this is going to sound a bit tacky but thought I would put it out there anyway. Get to know your “mucus” (sorry sounds gross). http://www.justmommies.com/articles/signs-of-ovulation.shtml
I was day 12 like clockwork once I knew what I was looking for. Also you can get blood tests done by your doctor (this MUST be done on DAY 21) to give you the most accurate reading of your body. There is only a very small window to get pregnant so being accurate is important. You can also buy ovaluation kits from the chemist that tell you when you are. It’s worth it because there are only a few days in a month that you can conceive so it’s worth it other wise you have to wait another 4 weeks to the next month. If you are in no hurry or just seeing how things go no problem but if you are trying on days 14,15 and 16 and your fertile 11, 12, 13 you’ll be missing the boat no matter what. If you know when you can get pregnant for you (ie mucus… etc) you’ll have a better chance. Gives you better odds…. now…back to your gardening.
I did a photo book by Paper Coterie with pictures of all my home grown veggies and it’s so rewarding to see and realize the great food we ate and grew. I’m in the process of replanting shortly for the new season. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

I LOVE reading all this wonderful advice you are getting on biology!! I have NO medical/biology knowledge, if fact my biology issues were just the opposite. Two kids 16 months apart, while on birth control. I know, lucky, in that sense. My advice is this… Stop thinking about biology and just have LOTS and LOTS of great SEX!!! I even recommend some old school “parking” to be the best possible way to conceive!!LMAO!!!! Was that TMI… cuz someone else mentioned mucus first, so I thought we could go just about anywhere!!!

i must confess and agree with Rosa, and you, in that the biology of my body trying to make littles (well, ACTUALLY more about the biology of coming off of the pill!) is getting frustrating. it’s crazy and confusing when your body and mind don’t seem to click at first. i love your blog and read it all the time. i love seeing that you’re focusing on other things and not getting panicked or too caught up, it helps me to keep my interests moving forward too. creative, food, just ideas, anything! on the flip side, i also appreciate your more personal posts like this and if you ever feel like blogging about the things you are doing to stay cool calm and collected about it, or any feelings you have, i’m sure we’d all be listening. however, i also know from current experience that the best thing to do is probably not to think about it much at all, and just enjoy the extra blessing of time together, so maybe it’s not even worth hashing out. it’s great to see other girls responding to the not-so-often talked about, but oh-so-common frustration. either way, keep up the great work! i’ll be following 🙂 and relating.
