When I moved in last December, I set up fancy little inspiration boards in my office. And then when I embarked on Project Life and started – gasp – making stuff again, I began pinning embellishments and labels on to the boards so they were accessible. It worked, but I was ready for a change. I need this space above my desk to be effective storage more than I needed it to be inspirational.

So down came the bulletin boards & art prints (they are getting re-purposed on other office walls) and up went the clipboards. (I have seen clipboards used as display pieces all over the web, but the first time that it sticks out in my memory is on Rachel’s pretty blog.) I saved a few of my favorite “inspiration pieces” and taped them to the boards and used the clips to hold all the stuff I use on a weekly basis in my album.

I am loving this layout. It’s clean, uncomplicated and effective. Three favorites.

p.s. my office wall color is Valspar Champagne Gelee. The desk is a kitchen island from Ikea and this is my heavy duty paper cutter. The tutorial for that white and black board art can be found here.

Looks great Elise! It must be great to have everything at your fingertips and be able to visually see what’s available. I can’t wait to try this in my own craft space.

Do you remember the name of that desk? I’m moving with my boyfriend to a (likely) small apartment and would love a desk that could multi-task as a dining room table. This seems like just the thing!

Elise- I always love this look. What a great set up.
@Dayna- I think that cart is an ikea kitchen cart. I have one too and use it as a side board. If it’s the same one, I’ll tell you it’s narrow for a table so you might want to try two back-to-back or something else all together. Good luck!

Great idea. I scrapbooked last night for the first time in a long time. And the most frustrating thing was that I needed horizontal space not only to work in, but also to store my materials and supplies, and I don’t have that much space!! ahhh!

In other news, last night I ripped open 3 packs of chipboard flowers/shapes etc for use in a mini album I am making. Each pack (different colors) had a big chipboard ampersand in it. I found myself putting it aside for you “Oh Elise would love these..”. Then I realized I DON’T KNOW YOU.
    I’m such a dork.

Fantastic! Love it all. I am super new to scrapbooking but I have been getting a good amount of embellishments piling up. I have been wondering how to store them and this is a great idea. Might have to put it to use as well. And that piece of art work with the quote is wonderful. I have the perfect quote to try out. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve seen the way Rachel uses these to display art, but I think I might like your combo inspiration/organization use even better! What a great idea for keeping supplies where you can see and reach them.

I am going to move next week and was already thinking of how to organize my ideas and inspirations. Until now everything was floating around my desk, but the new place will be smaller. I really like this idea. Thank you so much!

Looks like it’s “NORDEN” – there’s a whole range of furniture with that name (our desk actually is the NORDEN dining room table) but this looks like the kitchen work station which is about 16.5 inches deep. Could that be it?

howdy, love it , clip boards are 2 cute…glad i saved all mine from my bittersweet teaching days…anyhow, do you know if they discontinued that color or what? i have a wee bit less than a gallon but hate the idea or running out and trying to color match , as i have never once had success with it..went to valspar and could only find champagne dance…do you recall when you purchased your paint? thanks a bunch…and once again looks lovely, so jealous of the organization. awwww must be nice
