Week nine is in the books… and I love this project.

(click to enlarge & the image above will be [somewhat] clearer)

I put this week together Saturday – so a full week after it was "complete". As a result, some details got missed. For example, two weeks later, it was easy to forget that there were some crazy moments as we readjusted to living together (I may have burst into tears in a sushi restaurant). Now all of that seems done and over with, but I should probably slip a note about the first few days in there somewhere.

Life seems fuller with two. This book seems fuller with two. I am going to have to make sure to stay on top of it so things don't get missed again. I don't do any formal "note-taking" throughout the week, but twitter is awesome for saving little snippets of our lives (like the baby lookout joke – true story though.)

This photo of Paul (taken from above in the loft window of our bedroom) is probably my favorite of the whole year so far. It just looks like life. Our dishes from dinner still on the coffee table. The Dexter DVD by the TV. The craft projects (blanket & heart pillow) actually in use. Running shoes by the door. And Paul – of course, Paul. Before he got home, I would not have thought to grab this "messy" shot. I would absolutely have cleared that table and picked up the sweatshirt and "styled" things. This is our life though. My house has people living in it again.

I tried something new with washi tape this week and wrapped it around a card to create a continuous pattern. After it was all on there, I rounded the corners. I love the look and that tape (c/o Freckled Fawn) is a new favorite. The chipboard "C" is super old … I can't remember the manufacturer. Yellow label stickers are Avery + Martha Stewart.

Also loving the circle tags from Elle's Studio for adding bits of text to photos.

Semi-random assortment of photos this week, but it was a strange one because we were up in Sacramento and I didn't get my camera out as often as I should have.

Plwk9detail4

I wanted to get the "for the love of candid" blog post into the album and it worked well to stick the photos and the text on to one 4×6 canvas in Photoshop Elements. I added the "title" right to the photo after printing with another Martha Stewart label.

The wine/drink paper is from an old egg press calendar that I have held on to for years. It's representing our dinner at The Kitchen. I wanted to save the whole menu, but the "thank you" portion really sums up the meal and I love what the chefs have to say about food.

Man, it was wonderful to take a vacation, but I am so happy to be home. I am still finishing up week 10 and will be sharing that soon and meanwhile I am putting together week 11 as it happens. Again, I'm an broken record, but I really love this project. Thanks for continuing to follow along as I share. It's amazing how much text I come up with each week. 🙂

supplies / Paper Source circle label, American Crafts patterned paper and chipboard embellishment, Ormolu "2" tag, Elle's Studio circle tags, Freckled Fawn washi tape, Design A page protectors (which are available in this variety pack), Clementine core kit, Bebas quote font. I use a Fiskars corner rounder (it's not amazing, but it's lasted the longest of any corner rounder I've ever had). I am using a Zig Millennium 0.1 pen and Recollections glossy marker throughout this album.

I think my favourite part of the week nine update is the card with the arrows entitled “this week”. I don’t remember seeing a “this week” card that had arrow bullets before. Usually, I’m a fan of the paragraph update – but this particular card is really cool.
This might be a silly question, but are you guys wearing the same shirt in one of these shots?

I love that red dress – you look beautiful!
Glad to see your book is filling up naturally, as your home has filled up as well.

thanks! I have been using a card like that each week and just make it myself with the arrow stickers. We are wearing a very similar plaid shirt, which is why I took the photo. 🙂

Thank you for sharing the sushi tears moment… I may have had a similar incident that happened during a surprise birthday party a couple of weeks ago. And yet, life rocks on.
    Isn’t that amazing?

Wow, bursting into tears at a sushi-restaurant sounds kind of familiar! The first three years (more or less) of my now six-year long relationship were long distance, and the intense feelings at being reunited were at times really conflicting. Wanting to be so happy – and really being very happy – while at the same time rediscovering how to communicate, and little pieces about each other you’d forgotten… Feeling like you aren’t understanding the person you have missed so fervently, and not being understood, was so frustrating, and challenging, and at times hurtful. It feels so good when you get back in the groove of reading each other though.
Wow, that was a bit long. It just struck a familiar chord with me!

I love all of your Project Life updates. You make it seem so simple but it’s so gorgeous!
This is a bit of a random question, but I was just wondering, did you ever get nervous or scared when you were living alone? If so, what did you do to move past those feelings? I just ask because I think I might be living alone next year for the first time ever and I’m a little nervous myself.

Elise have a look at “Oh Life” which is an online journal entry facility I have been using this year for my project life. I have Week one photos completed and in the book but nothing else. I have been taking photos and typing my notes at the end of the evening in “Oh Life” so I don’t have random bits of paper lying around and I don’t forget what happened on those days. The photos speak for themselves ie the event or everyday life but it’s things that are said, or how you feel that unless written down in the moment are all too easily to forget as you say. http://www.ohlife.com
An email is sent automatically to you every evening (a time suitable to you). Mine comes around 8pm and I just bullet point type down what happened during the day and at the bottom “things the kids said” or how I felt about a certain part of the day. This has been a godsend when in the next week I sit down when I have the time to print the photos. Check it out. Takes about one minute to set up a log in and then it just keeps them in order of Jan, Feb, March etc. so simple and of course I could sit down each day at 8pm myself and type it into a word document but I probably wouldn’t. When the email comes to you, it’s the prompt to spend 2 mins typing it in and then send and it’s done for you to look at or print for your Project Life. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

I’m on baby watch 2012 too!! You’ve mentioned it a lot lately and I can’t wait to see how you document a pregnancy! I just had my daughter… well, she’s 3 months now… and I did project life throughout my entire pregnancy. Its awesome to look back at things I craved, thoughts when I had the first ultrasound, felt her kick. Some weeks were hard, especially in the first trimester when I was just exhausted. Those weeks are mostly made up entirely of photos my husband took of me sleeping – in the car, on the couch, in the middle of the day. Good luck to you whenever you decide to start your family!
