Week 6. And I love love love this project.

Lots going on this week with the addition of the day in the life insert. It was another week where most of the project came together on one day. That is still not my favorite way to do it, but I know as things get busy it's going to be my only option.

Leftside

As mentioned, this project is not an attempt to reinvent the wheel each week. I am continuing to use the same techniques over and over and I love having a place to store all the extra stuff. This week included a note from a friend, a package from some face lotion, a candle tag, movie ticket stub and parking pass. I just crop everything down and stick it in there.

My "date" pocket this week just holds a piece of scratch paper that I practiced using my new Smash date stamp on. I liked the look of it, so in it went.

I used a little printstagram shot to represent by drive back down south early in the week.

That black pattern on kraft paper was hand painted. And I used the diagonal lines on that patterned paper to hold journaling similar to what I wrote in my blog post this morning. I saw Ali Edwards write on lined paper just like this and I LOVED it. Such a fun way to incorporate text.

I can't really explain how much I love this project. It's making so much more sense and telling a better story as the weeks start to add up. I have seen a few comments from people who are getting excited to start next year. I totally get that. But I recommend starting now. Dive in on February 13 and just go with it. In ten years, you might look back and say, "Wow, I wish I had captured more of 2012." You won't look back and say, "Wow, I wish I hadn't started six weeks into the new year." Also – I have heard that Project Life supplies (like page protectors) will be restocked on amazon very soon.

You can see the day in the life insert page in more detail here. I am hoping to have Paul email me with a day in the life for him. There will probably not be photos included, but it would be great to have his "normal" routine in Afghanistan in the album.

supplies / Paper Source circle label, Martha Stewart & Avery labels, American Crafts remarks stickers, Smash date stamp, Crate Paper patterned paper (diagonal lines), little word stickers c/o Scrapbook Circle, Design A page protectors, We R Memory Keepers photo protector, Clementine core kit, Bebas quote font. I use a Fiskars corner rounder (it's not amazing, but it's lasted the longest of any corner rounder I've ever had). I am using a Zig Millennium 0.1 pen and Recollections glossy marker throughout this album.

I definitely have to say that starting, even mid-February, is a must if you want to do this project. We moved at the beginning of the year and therefore I decided to wait on purchasing Project Life until we were settled in our new home with a new address. Sadly that meant the page protectors were already sold out by the time I was ready to purchase. But I’ve been saving papers, printing photos, writing down notes, and planning out my weekly pages even without the page protectors to put everything in to. I definitely will be glad I went ahead and started the project instead of waiting for everything to be restocked, once I can put it all together. I just know it.
Another great week, Elise. Love seeing your pages. Great inspiration. 🙂

my stuff just arrived today {it only went on sale in the UK 2 weeks ago} but I have planned to do it Birthday to Birthday, to show my year, not 2012. It was a few weeks ago but since I knew I was going to do this, I have been collecting photo’s and memories to put in it. Now I just have to wait for my photo printer to arrive so I can print all the images out {my normal printer doesn’t make great photo prints}.
Can not wait to get started fully. Love seeing the way you incorporate memorabilia into yours, which is what I am planning to do. x

You are making me want to do this project:) It looks so, so good. How are you liking the size of the album?
It’s been a long while since I created a 12×12 layout or used a 12×12 album, so this is the only thing that is stopping me from moving forward.

I have never been one for 12×12 scrapbook layouts. But because this is divide page protectors, it does not feel like 12×12 at all. I am loving the size and feel like it is just right for a project of this magnitude.

Love it. Love how you are so inspirational with this!! I love how you are using tons of iPhone pictures– it makes me feel so much better about the large amount of iPhone pictures I’m putting in.

For everyone waiting on page protectors – there are other companies that make similar protectors that you can use while you wait. I use a combination of Project Life, American Crafts, and We R Memory Keepers protectors. Studio Calico has them as well.

What began as a means of working on breaking my procrastination problems and a new goal quest in 2012, turned into a similar project for me.
You are a true inspiration with your Project Life posts and I thank you for sharing yourself and for being so encouraging to others.

I agree Megan– Don’t let the lack of “Project Life” protectors hold you back. I’m using 4×6 slotted ones from American Crafts and I’m in love. I don’t know if I even want to stock up on the PL ones when they are back in stock!!

I love seeing your album come together — how you pull from your blog posts to put this together. I need to set aside a day to pull mine from post-it notes to done and you are inspiring me to do that! I’m just happy I’ve kept up with post-it notes, a journal and taking photos. I need to get over my photo printing hold up…. that part always seems to slow me waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy down! Also I loved your post on Stephanie’s blog this morning – so beautiful. Hoping you and Paul are reunited soon. 🙂 One last thing – can’t wait to see what hot pink fun you come up with for your trunk!!! 😉

Since things are pretty boring here I think I might just do a month as a two page spread–I think that might be doable for me. I just don;t take that many photos I have only taken 36 all month.

Love this weeks layout. Thanks for sharing. Lots of inspiring ideas. Thanks for making me think outside the box with my own album. Love your quote cards! I always look forward to seeing what you will add each week. Great post on Stephanie’s blog too 🙂

Don’t think of your life as boring linda! I moved house (to a whole different state some 4000km away) – and also travelled to Vietnam over the new year – and I didn’t see it feasible that I complete project life (the weekly version)…
So I’ve adapted it – using W R memory keepers protectors and completing a double page spread each month. I find that’s a big enough ask for me, as I’ll be scrabooking other events also.

I agree that Project Life is an awesome project. I think its great because it can be whatever you want it to be or whatever it might evolve into. Last year was my first year doing project life. I didn’t start till mid Jan, when I happened to receive and amazon gift card and use it to purchase a kit. I fell off the PL wagon around June, just before the birth of my now 7 month old. I continued to collect bits and jot down journaling once and awhile and I of course have a zillion photos of my sweet baby. I started to get stressed out that things were amassing, yet I had no time (and really no energy once I did have a little me time) to actually put stuff in the book. This year, as I debated about whether or not to participate again, I decided I love the book I have. Full of holes and several 12×12 pages just full of collections of stuff. I may go back and make that stuff into weekly (or more likely monthly) spreads for the 2nd half of the year, especially since it would help document my baby’s first few months, but I may never get to it and that is OK. I am happy with the bit of my story I did tell. I am participating again this year and have decided it is a no stress, whatever happens happens sort of project. So far, I’m a couple weeks behind in putting stuff into page protectors, but am so in love with my PL so far this year. It truly is a real scrapbook with bits of real life and I love that. Thanks for all your inspiration each week.
