I say in progress because this room seriously needs some stuff on the walls. But it's been re-painted (it was a crazy brown/purple color before) and the furniture arrangement is settled.

Here are two before photos taken the day I moved in :

Beforeoffice

(Remember that ladder goes up to the storage space/hideout.)

I am using the big mirrored closet for mostly open storage.

And because I can't remove it, the ladder is turning into a garden of sorts. I am hoping to get it completely filled with green (real) plants. The bookshelf and table surface against the ladder wall are acting as a packing/shipping space. Once again, my peg board is a life saver.

The opposite wall is a workspace. I clearly need more frames in addition to more plants. The camera art is from 20×200.

The I think I can art is from this etsy shop. The small wooden crates holding the plants were purchased years ago at a craft store and then stained. They hung on the wall in our last apartment. All furniture (including that rug) is from Ikea.

And that's it! I am going to get another big wall calendar to hang on that wall next to the window. I am sure it will continue to get cluttered up as time passes. ps : I bet you can guess what my word for 2012 is going to be…

I wish I had half of your ambition and mental energy. I think you’ve done more to your apartment in a few days than I have to my house of 8 years. 🙂 Thanks for posting so often, you are my inspiration!
p.s. Love what you are doing to your new apt! I would be so intimidated by all the mirrors I wouldn’t even know where to start.

I love the set-up of your new office! I wish I had more space for my stuff! I love seeing the pictures of the new space. I have the same black Double sided book shelf from ikea but ours is against the wall, I love the look of books and other stuff on each side!

Love the new place. So much sunshine, such a happy place to be! I’m proud of you Elise for being so brave and honest about what it’s been like without Paul for these past few months. Depsite how hard it’s been you’ve made the choice to find the magical moments for yourself. You are truly inspiring.
P.S. I think you have a great sense of humor!! Love that! Keep being real, it’s the only way to live :o)

I love the “I CHOOSE” poster (with a peek at your 2012 word perhaps). I’ve been thinking about it more and more lately that when we choose (to be positive, to be with a partner, to get through it) we take things into our own hands, which can be powerful. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take the steps to be active participants in our own lives. When things start going sour, what’s going to hold you together if you didn’t choose that path in the first place? “Choosing,” everyday, is something I want to continually work on.

Great shade of pink, very subtle and nicer than just white or beige. I was curious when you mentioned a pink office 🙂

I bought a planner on Etsy and it came with a postcard that said, “Follow your bliss” which I decided is my motto for 2012. And since I love your word of the year idea, BLISS is mine. I’m going to follow it, create it, live for it, and make sure I stop ignoring it to be practical. Sometimes practical is overrated.

Lovely office! I’m a tiny bit jealous! Just wondering, in the photos the ladder looks quite steep- is it easy enough to climb?

The wall color looks great and I love the idea of covering the ladder with plants. It will make the secret hideaway look even more secretive.
I am seriously amazed at how fast your new home is coming together! You rock!

It’s shaping up to be a pretty cool office. Converting the ladder is pretty clever! Aside from plants, it can also serve as a shelf for books and other trinkets. Lots of different items can be placed there as ornaments.
