The strangest part of this deployment is that we will probably move to a new place before Paul gets home. It's a bummer because I adore this apartment, but sort of nice because I can make things work for just one person for the rest of the time I'm here.

Until yesterday, this meant I had only borrowed one drawer from his side of our dresser.

But what I'd really been looking forward to was clearing more space in our office.

BEFORE

Before

First of all : I have no idea why I take the most tragic before pictures ever, but I tend to. Whenever I see them I think to myself, "YOU LIVED LIKE THIS?!" It was the exact same when I redid the other side of the office last fall.

Second, here are the major changes (as numbered above) :

  1. Paul's piles have been sorted and recycled and sorted again. They have been replaced by a plant we had in our bedroom. It might be my favorite part of the new room.
  2. My failed photo project (which I never shared here because it turned out lame) is off the wall and will rise again as something else entirely.
  3. The framed art that has been resting against the wall for a month is now on the wall. Along with some other fun art that I moved from other rooms/the pile of stuff under my work table.
  4. Those little red squares of paper that I used to keep track of products released got taped to the side of the white shelf by my desk.

AFTER

Hooray! Better! Not perfect! But easier on the eyes! And I have MORE SPACE on the desktop and less clutter all around. The art is a bit haphazard up there, but I like it.

While I was cleaning through some of Paul's piles I found that gem of him in uniform from almost four years ago. I have no idea why it wasn't blown up and hanging on our wall already. But at least it's there now.

And that's that! I get to enjoy a great space for the next six months. And it only took me 14 months to get it together.

And because I always get questions – that giant calendar is by Stendig and I bought it at Crate & Barrel. I use post-its to plan out blog posts and stick them up there and rotate around as needed. The pages alternate from black to white each month.

SECOND TO LAST THING : I'm headed out of town on Tuesday so if you'd like a fall book (or anything else) by September 1st, please shop today or this weekend! I'll be making one last trip to the post office on Monday. Thank you!

LAST THING : I'm debuting the new blog late Sunday night/Monday! Can't wait to show you what I cooked up. If you check back and notice the blog is password protected, no worries – it's temporary until I get the kinks worked out.

#1. I LOVE the framed photostrips of you and Paul! Great idea! And the photo of the two of you with your coffee and juice. I would never think to blow up and frame a photo like that but it looks great!

Your office looks great- I especially love the photo booth pictures! Do you think (after you get back) there is any chance you could make some 5×7 autumn book covers? I love them but would prefer just a bit bigger than 4×6 ๐Ÿ™‚

Wait wait wait. You’re saying that art I went through the trouble to have framed shouldn’t be leaning against the wall in my bedroom? I have some work to do this weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh jeez, we have five pieces of framed art leaning between our couch and the wall so no one can see them. Why is it so hard to get things on the walls?

Woah, that huge calendar can be an inspirationโ€ฆ I used to have one in my apartment, but I never imagined how it would look in black. Iโ€™d probably use cyan as the textโ€™s color because itโ€™s my fave. Cyan + Black = Love! Hehe.
