When I worked at Paper Source and had daily access to fantastic patterned paper, I fell in love with gift wrap & ribbon. Now, it's hard to shake the habit of putting effort into my wrapping, but I don't always have a chance to shop for large sheets of perfect paper. My solution? Paint it.

I bought a roll of brown kraft paper at my local art store for a few bucks and just use inexpensive craft paint to make simple patterns whenever I need something wrapped. Some baker's twine and washi tape always finish the packages off perfectly.

I love the look of brown paper wrapping. Especially with just a splash of colour 😀 Those look great!

I’ve been using brown paper and simple coloured ribbon for years! In fact, I would use a different colour for each family member at Christmas so I could put their gifts under the tree without them knowing who they were for 🙂 I’m definitely going to try this! Thank you for the inspiration 😀

Such a good idea! Then you don’t have to store tons of different rolls of wrapping paper, and it’s perfect for any occasion. The washi tape is an awesome touch.

Love this! Brown paper is my favourite type of wrapping paper at the moment, it’s cheap and you can do so much with it!
Thanks for sharing this awesome idea!

I make my own paper too! Haven’t bought a roll of wrapping paper in years. I normally use brown bags from grocery shopping, but investing in a roll of brown paper is a great idea. A fun hint; brown paper + glitter = Christmas wrapping paper.

Super cute! I almost always wrap with solid papers so this would be a nice twist. Thanks for the idea 😀

Don’t try to shake the habit of wanting your wrapped gifts to look nice. I’m the same way and have just embraced it. It’s a huge time suck when the holiday season comes, but I love it!

my dads an engineer and he used to bring home giant rolls of white blueprint paper. At Christmas we’d carve stamps out of potatoes cut in half, dip them in paint and go to town! everyone always got a kick out of our homemade wrapping paper. Unfortunately we couldn’t eat the potatoes after that

I LOVE Paper Source as well!
I used to work in the Chicago one, the art department, loved it, but had to stop because I didn’t have anyone to watch my girls while I worked, bummer!
    LOVE their papers!
